Royce White skips game and practice (UPDATE: White issues statement)

I've been lurking for the longest time and wanted to finally chime in. Look, and I'm going to be honest, I've dealt with anxiety over the years, perhaps even borderline GAD. From what I've learned, no two people suffer from it the same way. It's kind of a vague diagnosis and on top of that, it normally comes w/a bevy of other mental issues such as OCD, ADD, Depression, misc personality disorders, etc.

I don't pretend to know whats truly going on in the man's head, but if it's true that he's been seeing the same shrink since he was 17, and part of this twitter meltdown is because he doesn't want to see the Rox shrink, I have a feeling that Anxiety maybe the least of his issues. Psychology isn't an exact science, far from it... Odds are if you go to 5 different head doctors you're going to be diagnosed 5 different ways.

Here's where I'm going, judging from his twitter rants and personally knowing how debilitating anxiety can be alone, I believe his mental problems far exceed just GAD. He's out of touch w/reality and thats more of a manic, personality type disorder, which makes his condition far worse than we were lead to believe during the draft. Perhaps he even knows it and doesn't want to be exposed by a new Dr?

That's my theory for now, and if I'm correct, that makes Royce White a bit of a fraud in my book. He and his handlers put together this huge PR campaign during the draft downplaying his "disability," saying he was fit to play and travel in the NBA. They knew he had to go in the first round to get a guaranteed contract, so they did their best to increase his draft selection... All the while knowing once he got paid, he'd start making "requests," much like taking a bus on the road. He'd have no leverage against a team if he went in the 2nd round. I saw half a dozen interviews where he said he'd have no problem criss crossing the country on jets and adjusting to the NBA grind. I believed the kid then, infact I was really high on his potential, but now I think he was lying through his teeth all along. He'd be fine just taking the money an running if that's what it comes down to. And for that, he's a fraud and puss for not even truly TRYING to adjust. Don't tell me there aren't other NBA players with mental problems of his caliber who carve out careers in the NBA because they're willing to show some courage and at least TRY.

Is Royce White coming up with these hilarious tweets on his own or is his agent behind the whole thing?

 

Yea money will be an issue real quick for him once he's out of the league and can't find a job anywhere else because no one else would want to pay someone just to babysit them.

 

Yup, McGrady actually played and put in work while this guy just sit there and tweets all day. McGrady actually had a good reason why he couldn't play because of his knees. Royce's excuse is the Rockets aren't doing enough for him.

 

Good grief, Royce continues to make me question my support of his problems with this. It just seems so ... empty. Where is the honesty / integrity / transparency he keeps blathering on about? Let's get real and talk about REALITY instead of just PHILOSOPHY. You know, GENUINENESS.

 

Thank you for your input. We still don't know, but this is a possibility.

 

man where are all the weepy apologists now? everyone that wanted to wrap a warm blanket around royce, give him some warm chicken soup and hug? remember all that?hahaha.. i even had a post deleted off that thread because i said "Man up Royce you make 1 mill year to play a game so quit crying and go to work"..

anyone with this much baggage will always end up being a headache and more problems than anything positive..

he says he is a writer, director, humanitarian, and "Imaginer" (?)

I honestly want to know- has he been published, does he have a blog or an outlet for his thoughts (besides twitter?)

has he produced or directed films that would bring awareness to his cause?

is he involved in some sort of philanthropy or activist organization?

does he #REALIZE the things he is saying?

 

Still no progress? I'm starting to actually hate him now.

If he's upset that he's not getting playing time and he will have an anxiety attack over not playing then why didn't he show up to training camp and participate at the beginning as well as showing up for practices. Skipping practices isn't going to get him PT and using his mental health issue as an excuse to play is pathetic.

I've dealt with anxiety attacks throughout my life and trust me, its a terrible feeling, feel exactly like I'm falling off a cliff. But I suck it up, deal with it myself, and move on. I never make my employer deal with my anxiety problems because I have professionals that help me coup with it. But I show up to my appointments because I want help.

Unlike Royce, who keep saying the Rockets are inconsistent with him when the Rockets are doing everything they can to help him, including setting him up with a mental health professional which he doesn't show up and blames the doctor and the Rockets for it.

 

I just really want to beat him up.

I guess that means I don't have #awareness for #mentalillness.

Gosh, I hate this Twitter style talk.

 

Any updates?it seems quiet now.
