lin gambled and lost late tonight. but you're a liar to say lillard torched him before the 4th. that wasn't the case at all, and is pretty much a lie.

Lin and Asik are on 3 year, $25M deals. That's $8.37M/year. If you want to argue the individual years, then they're making $5M. $8.37M is the actual cap hit, and for intenses purposes what the amortized values of their salaries are.

Essentially, they get paid $5M up front, and lend $3.37M to the Rockets interest free for 2 years over the first 2 years of their contract.

If they were NOT RFA's for the first 2 years, they would have easily gotten $8M/year for their contracts.

The Gilbert Arena's clause suppresses their salaries.

There was some good out of this game

    - Douglas showed he wasn't a zero
    - Morris back-to-back good games ... and hustled hard, and a 3pt shot
    - Aldrich looked good, even if it was against rookie Leonard
    - Asik has shown us so far (3 games) that he can keep his fouls down and rebound well (offense may or may not come)
    - Harden can still get to the rim at will ... just didn't finish well today. But 3 * 40min games in four nights will round him into starter and 'Da' man shape pretty quickly
    - Lin continues to make passes that lead to baskets at the rim
    - Our bench overall didn't do too bad

I'd like us to work in Terrence Jones into the rotation, not because 2Pat/Morris has been playing badly, but just to have someone with more pound (250lb) and wingspan (7'2) in the game at the PF position. Also like to see Morris get some mid-post opportunities, as we can't go PnR/Iso all game long.

Agree with all the above. Tonight we saw Hardin's human. I think he missed four layups and four FTs-- if he'd made just one of those misses, we'd've won in regulation. If Lin hadn't turned it over with that bad gamble of an entry pass on our penultimate possession, we probably would've won in regulation. Ah well, lot of what-ifs... To me, the biggest what-if is what if McHale had played TJ against Hixon or Aldridge, or Moti against Leonard. What if we'd used our fresh legs for a minute or two in this back-to-back?

It was just one game. Harden and Lin are so smart they will figure it out eventually. This team going 2-1 is already better than I expected.

He probably said Lillard torch Lin before the game even started.

Be careful what you wish for.

Good post. Like to see more guys get some PT especially when our regulars are tired. I'd like to add:

    - TD played very well on defense tonight but his shooting is still horrendous, I'd rather he avoid shooting alltogether.

    - Looks like we need to develop some structured plays rather than just hand the ball off to Harden and everyone else standing around.

    - Cole Aldrich showed some promise tonight, he was pretty active but then was nowhwere to be seen in the 2nd half.

    - Was already mentioned but PPat is getting a bit too much PT for my liking when we have so many other PFs itching to play.

Yeah, because every team is exactly the same and we need to model ourselves after the Trailblazers. BTW, if you have a prejudice against 4's taking three pointers, then the Anderson Magic, Gasol Lakers and Dirk Mavericks would disagree with you.

We have 2 penetrating guards so someone needs to be able to space the floor for them, and its not gonna be Asik.

The lost didn't come down to a single player, there was plenty of blames to pass around. Lin's defense, Harden's turnovers and shooting went down, Asik still can't make a basket down in the paint, etc. Bunch of realgm kids just bickering back and forth.

They won because they have two max guys in Batum and Aldridge and a better bench with Matthews hitting those clutch shots. We are overall a very poor team unless we trade for a better power forward or small forward.

Last game, our starters played more than Portland's but not by much. (Lin: 40 minutes, Lillard 37 minutes, etc.)

Lillard killed us, but only near the end of the game when Lin could no longer defend him and also help out on LMA.

When you are hot, you are hot. Just like when Delfino dropped a bunch of threes a couple of games ago to win us the game, and in this game he could not hit a single three. Lillard just got hot at the end, whereas IIRC he was not all that great from the three for the rest of the game. There is no need to go all haterade on Lin.

You can't blame Asik on offense. He is supposed to get rebound only. Don't forget 19 rebound/0pt. ;)
