Since Lazar Hayward is likely going to be cut by FO, and both Livingston and TD are proven to many of us. The two remaining options for being cut by FO are likely Machado and Cook. Machado 40.4% from downtown - this is not Cook's stat, it's Machado's college stat in Iona. Incredible/elite passing skills. Weakest D among guards. Cook What can Cook do except for shooting the three ball? Can he play D? I will keep the potential one, Machado. What's your thoughts?
college 3's aren't the same as nba 3's. I rather keep cook, and need players who can shoot the 3's to spread the floor for lin and harden penetration or pnr
I would probably keep Cook on roster for his instant offense and D, and send Machado to the D-League to get some playing time so he can develop his defensive and offensive game more. Machado has lots of upside potential... but it won't be developed well at 6-7 minutes per game.

Hard to say with the OKC players in the mix. Guaranteed Players Cook - $3,090,942 Douglas - 2,096,880 / 3,101,820 (QO) Haywood - 1,174,080 / 2,119,214 (Team Option) / 3,1478,821 (QO) Aldritch - 2,445,480 / 3,245,152 (Team Option) / 4,442,613(QO) D. Mo - 1,905,360 / 1,987,320 (Team Option) / 2,943,221 (Team Option) / 3,865,520 (QO) Marcus Morris - 1,905,360 / 1,987,320 (Team Option) / 2,943,221 (Team Option) / 4,094,020 (QO) Non-Guaranteed Players Machado - 473,604 / 788,872 / 915,243 / 1,181,348 (QO) Livingston - 3,500,000 Smith - 762,915 / 884,293 / 1,148,163 (QO) They're already cutting Brockman, Johnson and Forbes and we traded Lamb/K-mart. I'll assume we go with Lin, Asik, Harden, Parsons, T.Jones, Royce White, Patterson, Delfino, and Montejunas (9 players). I like to think they'll keep Cook (3pt shooter) and Aldrich (back up C). I don't see them cutting Douglas as he's guaranteed. That makes 12... After that it's now pretty fuzzy...
With Harden and Lin creating we need all the shooting we can get and Cook does that very well. Bye Machado or Smith.
But we wont win many until we find a better long-term back up PG. I think we already have enough 3 point threats now: Parsons slightly above average Harden above average + clutchness Douglas above average Lin average Delfino above average D-Mo slightly above average
One thing Morey is good at is finding serviceable point guards. He pretty much got Lowry and Dragic as throw-aways from other teams.
Keep Daequan Cook and lose Toney Douglas. Cook can back up the Shooting Guard position, with Scott Machado being the third Point Guard behind Shaun Livingston.
I would rather keep Machado. I think he's got a career in the NBA as a backup high energy level PG. That being said, you really need to understand the business/salary cap side to realize what Morey should do if he's forced to choose one or the other. Its Cook. Right now, making that second all-star calliber trade is priority #1. If Morey & co. think there might be a hint of possibility of making that aquisition in February D. Cook's expiring contract will be very helpful in making a deal like this happen especially since Kevin Martin's massive contract is gone. Aldrich, Cook, Livingston, Douglas all have nice sized expiring contracts that could combine to trade for a max contract type of player. Someone with a contract like Machado's could still be useful in making up small amounts of contract space, but more than likely if they make another trade they will want to have a nice amount of expiring's on the roster to given them flexibility in a deal.
Good chance that Cook and Machado stay now...Livingston may be the odd one out...The Rockets staff are high on Machado...and he has the talent to get up to the back up PG level...this year...the addition of Harden really makes Livingston expendable...plus Livingston helps with finances...
Keep Machado. His court vision and passing skills are much harder to find than a slightly above average 3 pt shooter. That said, cook's tweet sounds like he's staying.
Agreed. I like Livingston, but they really need trade fodder with K-Mart off the roster. And Douglas is a decent size chunk of contract to throw in to make a deal work.
