Haters will be Hating no matter what Morey does. This is a Win! for the Rockets. They did give up 1st rounders but not their own for 2013 draft. Toronto's 1st, Dallas 1st, and Carolina's 2nd rounder.
Vindication for Morey's strategy of accumulating assets. All the people who talked smack about accumulating assets need to recognize that those assets are the reason we just got a 23 year old star locked in on a 4 year deal. The reality is that the only players you shouldn't treat as assets are the few true superstars that you simply don't trade. Everyone else should be treated as an asset that can be traded in order to get someone better. Here's to Morey continuing to flip assets up the value chain.
You put 98 percent of any player on OKC and they are the third scoring option (or more important than "scoring option," best player).
Howard is NOT a franchise player, he's dominate, he's a superstar(some thinks), he DOES NOT have the mentality to lead a team and hold a city on his shoulders. He's a child, period.
I received a **** load of text messages about this trade while at work earlier and didnt believe it....Still don't see it doing much for the team!
Nope but he is a guy who you can use to attract another player to build a championship around. Neither Martin nor Lamb can do that.......Harden is superior to both of them and it isn't that close tbh.
Ummm, I don't think that screams value. Cole, Cook, and pieces are garbage at best. So basically, its Landry, Hill (who had a nice resurgance on the Lakers), Dalembert and lotto pick (you claim 14 but could be nicer) for Harden. If you didn't notice, Harden melted away into nothingness against the Heat, and as Hollinger so diligently noted, "Harden does not match up well with ELITE wings, in the NBA" With that said, Im kind of "meh" about the deal. Not terrible unless that Toronto pick turns out to be great. Now if the Rockets can land another young all star type player next year, maybe then Ill start to give Morey credit.
So Harden can attract who exactly? Which top five player becomes a free agent over the next three years, a player that the Rockets & Harden can recruit? A player who would choose us over Miami, NY, LA, or even Boston?
And thank god Stern saved us from that horrendous, horrendous, terrible mistake that Morey had made. Could you imagine an aging fast, unmotivated, on the downhill Pau, and a overpaid, just traded to the Wizards Nene after they resigned him. Less than half a season later. Morey should be kissing the feet of Stern for saving our franchise.
This...seriously people. Harden is a nice player. He is NOT elite. He scores a bit and thats it. I don't see Harden changing the dynamics of this team greatly. He is a player who needs the ball in his hands to be an effective scorer. Which diminishes Lin.
Lackeys are amazing. When Morey acquired those picks, the lackeys in here said he was brilliant. The Toronto trade and the classic "top of the 2nd (Charlotte) is actually worth more than a 1st" spin. Now, when Morey trades the picks, suddenly the picks aren't worth a lot after all. Hope you guys know a good orthopedic surgeon for your head-spinning.
