Our turnover is among the highest and our franchise player is Jeremy Lin. Hard to disagree with the article
Philly had how many lottory picks since moving Iverson and even a No 2 pick (Evan Turner) and yet are still mediocre. They are the classic example of tanking not getting them anywhere.
Philadelphia 76ers' 7 game matchup with the Celt showed Doug Collins is a great coach, especially during playoff. Too bad they lost Iggy. He will be great for Denver this year.
So I was wondering who's gonna make the first Lin comment on a non-Lin related topic. Then I saw this, lol
How do you know so little about basketball then? Seriously, you have 9 posts and you've already made an impression on me (and others) at how ignorant you are.
How much did we pay per win last season, and how much did philly pay...Um this beat writer DIDN'T READ-DIDN'T READ
Ya because they took a bloated contract bc of injuries, Brand, then ya they got Holliday, and those young guys, but then they got AI with his big contract...please they paid a lot per win last season...we sat KMART out, and should have made the playoffs, but Camby got injured, and Dragic's weaknesses were exploited..Moreyball actually does work if only he understood it as how Daryl is working it...Daryl is steps and steps ahead, with what ifs, different variables happening, not happening, etc. etc. This guy has no knowledge on the true underlying stats of basketball, and I didn't read just judging from the first line the OP had -Oh and ya you're right Turner...let's see who they end up unloading, and trying to keep now that they HAVE BYNUM...who they were lucky for some reason wasn't HANDED to us...but whatever. Bynum will get max in Phily, just as he would have here at the end of this coming season...Morey lost-but doesn't mean Moreyball doesn't work-his variables used to look at players has been pretty good for a GM replacing a pretty good one, but had his luck, and had his mistakes as WELL in MR. Dawson...but whatever Philly troll
also didn't mean to call you a philly troll was calling the beat writer one*^ sorry was just replying to your comment in agreement...and went on a tangent
The problem that most fans have is not understanding the difference between in-game analytics and player evaluations. All teams use in-game analysis. And that aspect is supported by watching video. Amd it's a wide-spread and proven approach. Statistical player evaluations are an entirely different animal. The quantative anaysis approach to evaluating a player is fundamentally rooted in two factors...what's happened historically to date combined with how much emphasis is placed upon singular aspects of those performances. Given that Yao was a CD pick and McGrady forced a trade to HOU to play with Yao, the "clock" on Morey technically should have started at the beginning of Yao's last season. (Unless you can suggest a reasonable argument that the 25 minutes per game version of Yao was a pathway to success). Effectively, Morey's players haven't gotten the Rockets to the playoffs. And secondarily, the Rockets over the past five seasons have spent less on player payroll than any other NBA team. (It's a fact that you can check). As a consequence, Rockets fans are depending upon one of two "success factors". Having salary cap space to sign a star or turning $Ball players into a WC Top Tier team. IMHO, I'm skeptical of the process and the results (regardless of college, Summer League or pre-season "success") are a big TBD.
From the team that signed Elton Brand to a Max contract, sucked, tanked, drafted a top 3 pick and amnesty'd Brand soon after. One think you could never accuse Morey and his system of is handing out garbage Max deals.
He's overpaid a number of times, hasn't he? He's just less inclined to overpay for certain types of players than other teams.
It's hard to disagree with an article that says Royce White's NBA career might be impossible because of his anxiety disorder when that's not remotely the case? It's hard to disagree with an article that says the Rockets gutted their roster to trade for Dwight Howard, when most of the assets acquired from the gutting weren't offered in the trade? He might be right that the Rockets haven't had success recently, but he mischaracterizes everything about recent Rockets history.
