Kind of my thinking too. As a Houston fan we are so used to waiting for that other shoe to drop, we just assume we will get beaten by anyone that is or has been decent for the last 2-3 years. Unfortunately until they win big games, I think most people will feel that way. Fans in New England expect to win every week, a loss is a shock to them. Fans in Houston for the last few years expect to lose every week. It is going to take more than a 5-0 start to get rid of that mentality. And to clarify, I am not saying I teh team is gong on a long losing streak or going to fall apart the rest of the year, I am actually really excited about the team. But I have been around Houston teams long enough to not let my guard down just yet.
This is where I am at. The Texans can beat any team in the league. They'll probably lose around 3 games, but I would not pick against them in any particular game at the moment.
That's funny. I have the exact same prediction except for I had a loss against a team later in the year, I think it was either Minnesota or Buffalo. The playoffs predictions are exactly the same as mine.
Yes... before the season had started, I had buffalo as surprise upset. I don't think so anymore, but coming into thee season on paper, their defense looked pretty stacked.
So we lose to the Packers, Bears, Lions, and Patriots yet somehow make it to the Super Bowl? Seems far fetched. I maintain a 3-1 record vs the NFC North will mean a Super Bowl appearance. One thing is for sure .... the city of Houston is waiting to see to how we perform against the Packers on the biggest of stage. If we play like we did against the Jets .... 5-1
there's only one AFC team in that list. The Ravens are the only other AFC team considered a real threat to us. I don't see how it's far fetched to play either of them in the AFC championship and win it. and a 3-1 record vs the NFC North has no bearing on how the Texans perform in the playoffs.
Now that the special teams got better in one day, I'm revising the record to no more than 1 loss in the reg. season...going all the way!
Yes there have been. I'm just saying I don't think we make it to the Super Bowl if we can't beat great teams. Show me a case otherwise and I will revise my opinion.
So you have us beating the Patriots? Now that Bill has lifted the "probation" on Wes Welker, I don't see the Patriots anytime soon. In addition, they seemed to have found a running game . Uh oh.
Pretty sure most of the last 5 or so superbowl winners have lost 4 or more games per season to teams just as good, if not worse than they are. 2007 Giants Losses: Cowboys (13-3) Packers (13-3) Cowboys (13-3) Vikings (8-8) Redskins (9-7) Patriots (16-0) 2008 Steelers: Eagles (9-6-1) Giants (12-4) Colts (12-4) Titans (13-3) And so on...
you're implying we have no chance against the Patriots. i'm saying it's hardly out of the question that we can beat them.
I think we are right with the Patriots and Ravens and any given week any of one of the three could beat the other. Will depend on home field, weather, health and luck. I'm glad we don't play the Ravens this week. We need a little bit of time for Wade to sort out the run defense with Cushing out. If we lose to all 3 of the Lions, Bears and Packers then that is a big red flag to me. I expect one of them to beat us though. I still am not sure how good our pass defense is. It hasn't really been tested fully yet.
