Let me know what you guys think. This is the first video in which I did the song, directed, and edited the video, so any comments or tips would be helpful. I'm specifically looking for comments regarding video quality, lighting, cuts/editing, and the flow of the video. BTW, had to show some love with my throwback Rockets snapback. Be sure to watch in at least 720P!
Nacogdoches! I was about to say....didn't The Pharmacist work there...but. I see you are the former.... I'm in the same town...till Jan.
hilarious. lol enjoyed it. critique? quality was great, editing was good too. more skin on the hotties maybe? heh
Haha yep. I was at the Nac store for 3 years. I'm not there anymore, but I still live in Nac. You ever go to Chilis or Bullfrogs to watch sports?
Bullfrogs. Never been to chilis for games. Still trying to decide whether to grill and watch the game at home on Monday, or go to Bullfrogs. Normally watch them at my apartment with some buddies and grill etc. Wouldn't mind hitting up Bullfrogs though for MNF. Always more fun with more fans. Wish there was a true sports bar that would give specials for gamedays etc.
I'll hit you up if I go to bullfrogs on Monday. When the Rockets start playing, you have to come out...very limited amount of true Rockets fans in Nac.
Hilarious. But you showed a 24 hour CVS and said they're closing soon. Unless you meant the pharmacy. Maybe I'm overthinking this. You almost made me switch back to Walgreens from CVS.... almost. Nice job.
Really enjoyed it. I'm guessing you shot 16:9 and to get a more "cinematic" look you squished the video vertically get it to letter box? It looks kinda smashed. I would suggest framing the video when you are shooting it knowing you what that aspect ratio in the end. That way you can just throw black bars on the top and bottom of your video and you'll get the effect you are looking for without covering up a part of the picture that you need. A trick to that is since you are using black bars that cover the top and bottom of the frame, you can move your actual video up and down to adjust the framing. For instance, if you have a ton of headroom in a shot and you want to add letter bars: Add the bars and then slide the picture up till you have a frame you like. Technically the bottom of the picture is now misaligned with the bottom of the frame but no one will see that because you have the black bar at the bottom of the frame.
Good concept. Good execution. Bad post-production. Video-guy opinion: Spoiler 1. Invest in a stabilizer. 2. Make sure you're outputting to 16x9 and the aspect ratio is proper to YouTube. Don't stretch. Everyone looks distorted. 3. Encode in AVCHD. Your output seems to be at 480p and stretched sideways, even though your pixels might say 720p. 4. Think about doing this in 24fps (film-like). DIGGING the RED & YELLOW Rockets hat.
Thanks. I really don't know too much about filming. I probably should have left it at 16:9 and just put the words on the screen instead of the black screen. That's actually what I was going for. I wanted to show a 24 hour CVS hoping people would basically get the irony. As for the lyrics, CVS = Closing Very Soon.
