Lmao! 75-80 deep? Deep with what? Future euro players? This draft will be lucky to have 5 all-star players in it and you said we got 3 or the top 20? 20 what? Role players?
NOH would laugh at the deal. They're not drinking the $Ball Kool-Aid that flows like Niagra Falls around here. How about we re-visit this the day after Game 82? Then, the college stats, Summer League and $Ball hype will give way to the grind of 82 games against the best that can be assembled. My suspicion is that the end results will resemble the great "history lesson" J.R. provided.
Saying he (Davis) will ever be in Duncan / Garnett territory ... Two virtual HOFers before the kid has played a single NBA game is a bit of a stretch. At this point he is more likely to be compared favorably to .... Kelvin Cato than either of those guy's. The Rockets three picks ... same has to be said for them right now but the math favors those three picks over a single one. Really good bigs are few and far between .... He has potential but I wouldnt say his floor is KD/TD lite.
Did you just compare the unanimous #1 pick to Kelvin Cato? Has a new breed of Clutchfan Zombie emerge after the eradication of YOF/TOF plague? the badlee followers, the new breed of lemmings?
Yes, by 75-80 players deep, i'm mean with quality role players. All-star potential off the top of my head: Davis Beal Lillard MKG Harrison Ross Lamb Henson Harkless Jones
What , thats somehow worse than comparing him to two sure fire hall of famers ?? So what if he was the #1 pick .... Greg Oden ring any bells ? How bout Andrea Bargnani , Kwame Brown , Andrew Bogut (at least he made an allstar game) , Michael Olowokandi .... Just being a #1 pick doesnt make you a sure fire franchise cornerstone ... or even a fringe player.
All 4 of them (Davis, Lamb, Jones, White) played great against the best that college ball had to offer. Each other. 3 > 1
I said UNANIMOUS #1, I don't think those guys you mention were UNANIMOUS . Remember when Shaq and Lebron were drafted? It was no doubt that they were going #1.
Dude, you realize this guys knows nothing about anything. you can take the Fonde rec team and tell them to put on Rockets jerseys and badlee would think they were real NBA players.
Plus we all know that players who have all-star like numbers don't always make the all-star team. Kyle Lowry?
What the hell are you talking about. What does that have to do with anything. You said the draft is 75-80 players deep in terms of "quality role players". First of all, only 60 players get drafted each year. So it's impossible to even be 75-80 players deep. Second of all, even if you meant 75-80 players in terms of 2012-2013 rookies, you are saying that 75-80 rookies this season will end up averaging at least 20 minutes a game. Because quality role players all get at least 20 minutes. Do you realized you sound like someone who has never watched an NBA game?
Except I didn't change your statement. This is what you said. Word for word. Twice. And quality role players get 20 minutes a game. So you are saying 60 rookies from the draft will get at least 20 minutes a game, and 15-20 non-existent players will get to play 20 minutes too.
If we could roll back to 2011 and we had the same situation as far as picks go, it would have been a mistake to trade.. let's say Motiejunas, Brooks and Faried for Kyrie Irving.
i like Faried a lot, but it wouldn't. also, Kyrie was nowhere near as impressive pre-NBA as Davis. and 12-16-18 picks were really Alec Burks, Nikola Vucevic and Chris Singleton.
