Quinn Antonio Smith Barwin You have to pick two guys, assuming we lose one. Quinn- is a top 5 safety in this league, big hitter, leader of the secondary and still young. Barwin-still a young guy, but possibly expendable with Mercilus on the bench. Antonio smith-leader of the front seven and severely underrated. I am not sure of his age, but he is a big reason our defense is so good. I'd keep Antonio and Glover.
I think Smith is the obvious casualty if it comes to it but I also think he's a candidate for a restructure similar to Walter's but not as big. I have no clue what next year's cap looks like though. Typically I don't think safeties earn a whole lot on the open market. Barwin I believe we can franchise and his stock is dropping by the game - which is a good thing.
Smith is still under contract for next season whereas the other two aren't. Now that we locked up Duane and Schaub, GQ should be top priority. I hate to say it but Barwin is replaceable, even if Mercilus doesn't pan out.
Barwins situation has almost become awkward. Playing for a contract and has yet to show up. I hope he gets it together even at the risk of losing him.
Smith will be 32 by the time he is a free agent. If we resign Barwin, he is almost undoubtedly gone. But either way, I think his replacement will be taken in this year's draft. Quin will not have a high price tag. He is almost undoubtedly back. The only real question is Barwin. If he asks for too much, his job will be given to Mercilus.
Quinn and Smith, Smith does a lot of dirty work for Watt to get the sacks.(Obviously Watt does dirty work as well)
My opinion is that Reed would made a good WOLB. Speed rusher off the edge, while allowing Merci to work off the RT's who are usually less superior in regards to pass blocking.
please stop.. you cant even spell his name right yet you claim he is a top five safety... quin doesnt even enter the discussion of top 15.. he fits in this system and does his job, dont get carried away..

Ed Reed, Adrian Wilson, Eric Berry, Troy Polamalu, Eric Weddle, Antrele Rolle, Goldson in San Francisco, Earl Thomas... Quin isn't a top 5 safety but he is good and fits this system and does his job well.
Barwin has a tattoo of the Houston skyline. He's committed... In all honesty, I think/hope Barwin would give a bit of a discount to stay. He seems to like it here. I said the same about Mario though...
Maybe it is. I've never looked that close. Could have swore it looked like Houston though. Edit: quick google says its Detroit. Not sure, though. An article from profootballweekly written within the last week says we're willing to franchise Barwin.
Smith is the only African American in the front 7. We need him for street cred (Barwin's hair won't cut it)
