so since the coach aint on the field risking his health, he cant say "we" as well??? what about the waterboy or the cheerleaders??? i'm confused??? Bob McNair listen up, u cant say "we" when referring to the texans cuz u don't suit up!!!!
My two cents on the whole "WE" thing. I feel every sports team tries to cultivate this feeling in fans. It certainly makes one want to spend more money on something they feel is part of them, rather than just a distant form of entertainment. I personally don't look at sports teams as "I". Not even the Rockets, which has been my most favorite sports team since I was 8 years old. I also only go to 2-3 games a season and almost never buy Rockets stuff. Because despite providing countless hours of entertainment for me on TV over the years, I still just view it as entertainment. And prefer to spend my disposable income on other stuffs.
Article One of the "Fan Constitution:" If the sports team that you are following is winning it is permissible and even recommended to say "we." If your sports team is losing it is "them."
I don't personally refer to teams as "we" because it just sounds stupid IMO. When people are just barely getting acquainted with a team or know nothing about a team at all, but are always saying "We look so good this year," or "Who do we play this week?" It annoys me a little so I just refrain from using it at all. I'm not against the whole thing of fans feeling like part of the team, but I think even that has it limitations. If you are a sports broadcaster or journalist or something like that, then you should never use it. Sounds unprofessional imo
All you have to do is read the Cowboy's message board on the Dallas Morning News site and you see plenty of posters use the term "we". I think every sports team, be it professional or college, has tons of fans that use "we".
Schaub will need to make quick throws. That's what Ryan did to beat Von and Elvis. I want to see Jean get in on the action with some quick hitches and crossing routes. Do that well with a good dose of Arian and Ben.. and then go over top to Andre for the home run.
Texans ranked #2 on power rankings. If I remember correctly the last time the Texans were ranked this high was actually in 2010, going into Week 3 after the Texans dismantled the Colts and had that amazing comeback win against the Redskins. http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings/_/year/2012/week/3
First big test but honestly I don't think it's as big as we all would like to think. This is a really really really good team and while the Broncos are likely a playoff team they're not on the Texans level. Enjoy the ride folks this will be a season to remember. Texans 30 Broncos 17
Well I have no reason to read their blogs, but a caller on ESPN Dallas used "we" and the hosts asked if he was on the Cowboys or worked for the team. If neither of those apply, then you are just a fan of the team, not on it. Greg Koch constantly talks like he is on the team, while Nate Newton refers to the Cowboys in third person on his show on ESPN there DFW is not that much larger than Houston. They are pretty much the same. What I mean is, its a better sports market overall.
I love the posters bolding and capitalizing we/us now. Like your little sibling singing when you were younger and asking them stop, but they keep doing it just to annoy. Lol Anyway, Texans 35-17. I think Schaub will have at least two tds thrown.
I could actually feel myself getting dumber reading these last few pages. I think we take this one. Texans - 24 Broncos - 20
What you said was, that no one in Dallas used "we". Now you admit that callers do as well as one of the radio hosts. Dallas fans do use it as do fans of every other sports team. Houston is not unique in that. Why is Dallas a better sports market than Houston?
