Pretty much same with me. Except I was 10-11 years old in 92-93. It was cool to get in on the ground floor as far as liking the team and watching the games the year before they won the chip, because then I actually enjoyed the success more than just jumping on the bandwagon. But I was very lucky as a fan, and I'm sure that's what hooked me, winning championships in years 2 and 3 of my fandom. Been a bit dry since though, lol.

Born in 89, earliest memory is Rockets being on the cover of the phone book ( I think phonebook) with their championship.

I was 8 or 9 years old (and I'm not sure if it was the 84 or 85 season) when my father took me to the Summit for my first Rocket's game. I didn't know anything about basketball. During the warm ups, I asked my father, "Who is good?"

He pointed down at Akeem Olajuwon. And oh he was good that night.

I've been following them ever since. In fact, it's the only sport I follow. I think it safe to say I wouldn't have this passion for basketball if Hakeem hadn't showed me over and over again exactly how beautiful the game of basketball can be.

Started "following" when Akeem was drafted after seeing PhiSlammaJamma play at Hoffheinz. Was sad we didn't also get Clyde.

    Memories? just the good ones.

Two Towers. I remember Olajuwon coming to my elementary school and talking with each class. I was disappointed at the time because he was the short one of the two towers....

Born in 83. Watched my first game in 89. Favorite memories are the back to back championships. My dad had lung cancer during the championship years and the playoffs really brought my family together and made for fond memories in an otherwise difficult period.

That was against the Nuggets in Denver from what I recall. The interesting thing about that game was that Calvin Murphy called that shot as Clyde was about to shoot it and he banked it in. Good times...

Late bloomer I would consider myself.

I recall vague memories of Phi Slamma Jamma in the 80's. My cousins would hang old bicycle rims on trees for hoops and play in the yard, but I was NOT into sports.

I got into sports through video games. I like the stats aspect.

I got into sports and basketball and the Rockets when I was 16 in the early 90's.

My earliest memories of the Rockets was when I was working at Checkers. I would go on lunch and lock myself in my car and listed to Jim Peterson and Gene Foley play by plays while eating a Cajun Burger with Apple Nuggets and a Strawberry shake. There is NOTHING like forging memories using the sense of smell (the food), and sound (the play by play).

Been hooked on the Rockets since good or bad. I look forward to this season no matter how bad we are because the Rockets have always been a gritty team that fights and I expect nothing less.

With the number one pick of the 1984 NBA draft the Houston Rockets select C Akeem Abdul Olajuwon from the University of Houston.
