Early on, Carlos Correa is 2-2 with a double for Greeneville. The River has a single in 2 at-bats, and Ariel Ovando is also 2-2. Lance McCullers is on the mound in a scoreless game in Princeton. They're in the bottom of the 4th.

Unfortunately, Greeneville couldn't sweep Princeton as they lost the finale 1-0. Those hits from Correa, Ovando, and Ruiz were the only ones they had all game. McCullers went 4 and allowed an RBI single in the 4th. He allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. Joe Musgrove threw 3 1/3 scoreless after that, allowing 4 hits and striking out 6.

Still a small sample size, but I'm wondering if he's playing well enough for Luhnow to consider putting him in Lancaster next season. A Tucker/Aplin/Meredith outfield would be pretty nice.

Anyone got a current scouting report on him?

Sorry. Meant to quote the post above the one I quoted. New to these bb's, still getting used to the interface.

It's so easy to overlook Singleton's solid year. ~.280/.390/.470 with 18-20 dingers in AA by a 20 y/o is fantastic.

He doesn't have the pure counting stats of DDJ or the hot streak of Marc Krauss but he comes to play every day and has definitely fulfilled his top prospect billing.

Interesting, Jose Martinez is playing shortstop for OKC. He played mostly 2B in Corpus (of course with Villar playing SS).

Granted, OKC has had some depth issues at short, including playing Wallace there, but Angel Sanchez is healthy and currently playing 2B.

Given Altuve is blocking him at the MLB level, if Martinez' glove can handle SS, he could be an interesting every day option, or at least nice middle infield utility player with some pop.

Breaking news: Jonathan Singleton just sent another one out. This 3-run shot gives Corpus a franchise record for runs scored in a single game. They're leading Springfield 20-9.

From what I've read, Martinez is not an every day SS, but neither is Sanchez. Sanchez had terrible range, and a fringy arm at SS. Best bet is they are setting Martinez up to play a utility role, which is where his future is with us. I could see him eventually ending up getting a starting role like Omar Infante did.

Well, I think a week off should do the trick.

    Sunday Stories

OKC has been in a downward spiral as of late.

    Top prospect gonna top prospect.

    Tri-City gonna Tri-City.

The GCL Big 3 take their show to Greeneville, with a stop in West Virginia.

    Recap

OKC dropped their 9th in a row with a 3-1 loss to Sacramento. Matt Downs' solo shot in the 4th was the only run of the game. J.D. Martinez went 4-5. Ross Seaton went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3.

Corpus absolutely unloaded on Springfield in a 20-9 victory. The Hooks hung a dozen on the Cardinals in the bottom of the 6th as they nearly batted around. Twice. They sent 16 men to the plate in that half-inning.

Everyone had at least one hit except for Jay "The Peoples' Champ" Fernandez, who drew a walk with the bases loaded. That nickname came from Hooks beat writer Greg Rajan. Big night for Ben Orloff, as he went 5-5 with a double, a bases-clearing triple, 4 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Orloff now has a hit in 6 straight plate appearances. Mr. Top Prospect, Jonathan Singleton, went back-to-back with Drew Locke in the 1st, then he sent a 3-run shot out in the 8th to provide the cherry. He now has 17 home runs on the season. Austin Wates, who came in to replace Jake Goebbert in left, went 3-3 with a double, 2 RBI, and scored 3 times. Andy Simunic and Enrique Hernandez both had 2 hits, an RBI, and scored twice. Robbie Grossman went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Locke's solo homer was his 7th of the season, and he finished 2-5 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.

Pitching-wise, Matt Heidenreich retired the first 10 men he faced, and finished somewhat shaky. In 5 1/3 innings, he allowed 5 runs (3 earned, 2 inherited) on 5 hits and struck out 3. Alex Sogard got tagged with a blown save, but he also got the win. He got the last 2 outs of the 6th, allowing a hit, 2 of Heidenreich's runs to score, and an unearned run of his own in the process. Adalberto Flores allowed 3 in the 8th after tossing a scoreless 7th.

Lancaster took 2 of 3 from San Jose with a 3-2 victory. The Jethawks got a strong start from David Martinez, who allowed 2 runs on 7 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 5 in 7 innings. Delino DeShields went 2-5 with a run scored. Domingo Santana and Erik Castro had RBI singles. Jio Mier scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch from Stephen Harrold in the 6th. Jorge De Leon got his 4th save of the season by striking out Andrew Susac, the only man he faced, to end the game.

Tri-City heads into their All-Star break by capping off a 5-1 roadtrip with a 6-5 win over Staten Island, giving them the series sweep. M.P. Cokinos, who has been described by ValleyCats play-by-play man Evan Valenti as possibly having the best raw power on the team, kicked things off with a 2-run double in the 1st. He also added a triple. If you were wondering, M.P. stands for Michael Paul. Preston Tucker sent a solo shot out in the 3rd, his 5th home run of the season. He also had a double. Neiko Johnson and Ryan Dineen also had an RBI. Johnson had 2 steals, giving him 11 on the season. Dan Gulbransen scored on an error in the 4th. On that same play, Emilio King was credited with a single. Brady Rodgers tossed 5 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. It got a little hairy in the 7th as the Yankees scored 4 to make it a 6-5 game. Jamaine Cotton, after throwing a scoreless 6th, was tagged for all 4 runs. All but one of them were earned, and John Neely allowed 3 of those runs to score. Travis Ballew got his 2nd save and in the process, regained his sub-1 ERA.

Unfortunately, Greeneville couldn't sweep Princeton as they lost the finale 1-0. Ariel Ovando and Carlos Correa both had 2 hits. One of Correa's was a double. Rio Ruiz added a single. Lance McCullers, the tough-luck loser, went 4 and allowed an RBI single in the 4th. He allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. Joe Musgrove threw 3 1/3 scoreless after that, allowing 4 hits and striking out 6. Scott Zuloaga and Jordan Jankowski got the last 2 outs of the 8th.

A bad day for Kody. Not just getting cut, but by your hometown team while playing driving distance from said home. Good luck to him.

He still has a .486 OBP and a ridiculously good Strikeout-Walk ratio of 42-23. He has a 29.8 BB%. At least he is still finding ways to get on base

Strikeouts are up right now as well. Sample size, adjustment period, and longer season than he is used to all have to be factored in. Repeating Lexington to start next season is no problem, unless they plan on starting Correa out in Lexington next season.
