I thought he wanted to play on a contender? Meanwhile, the Suns are no doubt committed to the 13th/14th pick. They've been right there with Houston the last 2 years or so.
He was one of my favorite players back when he played for Indiana. He was a BEAST. Injuries are no good.
That last point is an interesting one. I don't know that the trainers will have enough impact to make O'Neal the same player he was back with the Pacers, but I would not be surprised if we see a rejuvenated O'Neal this season thanks in part to that training staff.
What is wrong with the Suns? They got worst by losing Nash and instead of rebuilding their team by going young, they are adding old veterans to their mediocre team thinking it will help them. They are not a threat at all to any teams, they have no young talent except for maybe Goran and Kendall but both of their ceiling isn't as high as the major superstars in this league. At best, one of them will maybe become an all star. But with their constant weird signings like Scola and Jermaine O'Neal, they are only slowing their production down. Contending teams like the Lakers, Heat, or OKC that be better suited for veterans like a Scola. But as of right now, I don't understand why the Suns are making these kind of signings. They are not going anywhere so why are they going after Jermaine O'Neal when he is way out of his prime and they really don't have a need for him at all.
