Yah, I meant to say Lakers. Morey's had such a boner for Gasol in recent years that I'd hate to see him overreact to the idea of not having a "star" player this year by jumping in the wrong direction.

its very clear that Houston must have backed off the trade offer. No way Orlando accepts that kind of deal over the Houston deal.

L-R: Morey, Les, Gersson Rosas, McHale, ???

Morey is halfway-smiling, Les looks angry, maybe shocked, Gersson has this 'stupid look' on his face, McHale looks disappointed, and ??? with some fake smile.

My guess about all of this is that the Rockets' offer was never as good as even the most "realistic" media reports said it was. Morey was never going to give up TOO much for what might have been a one-year rental.

So while we can take shots at him for once again failing to lure a superstar to the team, let's at least be thankful that he didn't give up two arms and a couple of legs for a selfish pr1ck who had other plans anyway. Nice to know our GM isn't THAT desperate.

I've heard Gersson on the radio and always figured he was a black man.

    Maybe so....but we'll never know.

    I'm not mad at all.

This team is gonna be VERY good and home grown built.

The blueprint is being made right in front of our eyes.

    OKC model on steroids.

    Morey is a great drafter!

He flipped Chase Budinger into Terrence Jones!!!!!

and people are frontin on that?????

    lol....gee wiz.

Morey traded for Gasol one time when it was apparent that he would also be able to sign Nene. That trade was vetoed and fell apart.

Since then Morey has made no indication at all that he has any interest in getting Gasol.

I can't make sense of this. Please someone explain what driving force I'm missing because this goes against normal human behavior.

    Either
    A) the rockets offered less than this package or took their deal off the table entirely
    B) D12 and his agent have a whole lot more leverage than anyone thought and if that's the case the new CBA is a joke and we should all just be fans of players instead of teams
    C) the magic are getting something else under the table which spells rigging and collusion and we should all just treat the NBA like WWF entertainment

Am I missing something? What else could explain such a move by Henny?

My sarcasm meter is broken. So you’re saying we are doing a good job of copying the OKC model? If so, GTFO. OKC model works only if a once in a decade player like KD is available in the draft.

Everything I've read from insiders like Hollinger and Woj indicates its not A.

I cannot believe that people throw away money because of player influence/desire/leverage so I can't believe its B.

    Which leads me to C.

This. I hope fans realize this the next time they take their side when they lockout the players.

Isn't the reason this whole thing was possible because the owners caved on a hard-cap?

Aren't the players the ones who fought for greater flexibility in their ability to switch teams?

Right. Lets all love the innocent players cause its all the evil owners fault.

Reality check. Its millionaires fighting billionaires for our money. It was never about the hard core basketball fans. Its about creating the biggest pile of money they can and fighting out who gets that money.

EVERYTHING ELSE (including league competitive balance) is secondary.
