If Morey signs Howard the first thing he will do is throw up in a trash can

So we would amnesty Scola and probably take on tens of millions of dollars in bad contracts simply for a rental? And toss in pretty much any of our young talent that Orlando wants for a rental? And add numerous valuable picks for a rental? There's a certain amount I'm willing to do to take a chance on Howard, like trade Scola as part of a deal, but to do all this? I simply don't believe it, not without an extension.

Assuming this to be on the level, and not made up bull ****, which it probably is, then I've had enough of The Howard Soap Opera.

    Amnesty makes perfect sense:

    1. With the expected matching of Lin (and Asik) getting thr Rockets well below the cap, taking Scola's salary off the books will increase HOU's ability to take on Dwight and others while minimizing salary given back to ORL. It is just how the math works.

2.Teams are likely trying to extort value for taking on Scola right now given the urgency for HOU to move him. Not necessarily because he is a bad player or even too horrible a contract with only 2 yrs left, but because removing his salary (which a rebuilding ORL does not want) is key to a larger goal and teams will try ti take advantage. For ex. see CLE trying to do the same for taking on Humphries earlier.

Maybe, but will Dwight still be around? His main gripe was the GM and coach couldn't surround him with a winning team. So when he arrives in Houston its still the same old team. Not to mention with a lesser coach. Who is to say he'll resign to give Morey a chance to build around him in years to come?

Martin would probably be part of the deal with Orlando.

If somehow he wasn't, he'd be a perfect fit on a team with Dwight.

I'd rather take Bynum and Gasol...let those horrible contracts go to LA with DH.

Morey needs to take his time. Brooklyn is out of the mix and we have the best combination of young players and draft picks. Lets make them work toward our offer not the other way around.

He may have said that was his main gripe, but the reason he wanted out of Orlando was to go play with Deron and get the NY endorsement money.

How is Howard injury prone? The back surgery he elected to take(didn't have to get it) was literally his first significant injury of his entire career. Also, if you think "Byrum" is less of a prima donna, then you haven't been paying attention. The guy is the very definition of immature. Howard has been a real dbag during this ordeal but let's not forget Bynum has had a far more consistent injury history and has repeatedly been punished by his team & the NBA for inappropriate behavior in games, missing practices, team meetings, etc. Howard, for all his douchbaggery to try to get to Brooklyn at very least is a professional on the court and takes care of himself off the court.

Morey is taking on the exact number of bad contracts and sending out the exact number of draft picks/prospects where it will not hinder our ability to make further moves to contend within the next 2 years. That is all you headless chickens need to know. We are not trading for Howard just for the sake of trading for him. If you don't think our next 10 moves are already mapped out, then this game is way over your head so put down the keyboard and stop speculating.

Bynum wont be any cheaper than Howard, he is a max contract guy. I dont think Howard will lose a dime in Houston. We can sign him for more on an extension, and his endorsement deals will be worth just as much as anywhere else he can play, added to all the Asian endorsement deals that he will have the chance to capitalize on coming to Houston because of the Yao connections established here already. Howard is about the money. His "only" team he will sign with cannot sign him now. He will have to accept another destination. DH12 to Brooklyn is no longer a chance. He will have to adjust his crap attitude and grow up.

If the Rockets get Howard, he's gonna stay. Nobody is gonna have cap room for him.

I would say there is a limit on how much HOU would give or take back without killing it's own ability to build around Dwight (as ORL has by signing these bad contracts and making poor personnel moves in the first place). Let's see what the final deal is before we react.

My guess is it will EITHER JRich or Turk, not both, plus two smaller contracts like Duhon and QRich. We will see.

Oh, its has not been 'serious' until today? Orlando is toying every team. Dwight is the only one able to punish the management by simply staying several months and walk out.

Makes no sense to make a trade for Howard and not give him a good team around him. If you are going to trade for him and risk losing him in a year, you better darn well make a serious run at it and I don't see how cutting Scola and starting Patterson makes this team better.

I just don't agree that getting Howard makes you a contender. Just look at the great teams we'd be competing against. Dwight and a bunch of scrubs = first round exit.

Assumption, assumption, assumption. Do you honestly think Morey's going to toss in all of our good prospects and take all of Orlando's bad contracts? Seriously, chill out. It won't end up like that.
