Holy hell, my mistake... South Carolina STATE?! I thought that said South Carolina (I mean, duh right, SEC?) Jesus Ags, don't hurt yourself bending over to get that low lying fruit.
Yes, but 2 FCS teams? I can't remember the last D1 FBS program to do that. That means they have to win 7 games to be bowl eligible. They couldn't find one weaker FBS team to invite to Kyle, really?
Plenty of SEC teams schedule easy wins. Look at Bama. Kudos to LSU this year. Anyways, the Aggies made it clear they would play UT, so I wouldn't call it fear. Maybe it had to do with scrambling to fill games so quickly in a new conference. Either way, I can go out and find plenty of other major programs scheduling weak opponents and having a weaker SoS overall. I get that you Bearkats and Cougars are a little baffled though. I don't expect y'all to comprehend big boy football. Its just not something you've witnessed firsthand. Spoiler Mwuahahahhaah-heehehe
You scheduled 2 FCS teams in the same season. Hardly anyone ever does that. Ever. In fact, I'm willing to bet no SEC team has ever done it. Hell, by rule only one of them will even count toward bowl eligibility. Stop trying to polish this turd. I'm embarrassed for you. (And a little bit for myself, even, since I have Aggie blood in me)
3 tough road games all in a row before Thanksgiving is the make or break point of the season. We've gotta take at least 1 one of those games to have a fighting chance at a bowl game in my opinion.
A&M had to wait for the schedule to be set up by the SEC and didn't know all of our open dates. Trying to schedule an FBS team after pretty much every FBS team has their schedule full is not an easy task. Would have cost a lot of money and possibly have to do a home and home with a weak team, which is a big future money loser. It's not ideal, but basically we were stuck scheduling 2 FCS schools. Given what we lost from this past year's team and the upcoming schedule, making a bowl just got even tougher. Now we don't get to count one of our "easy" non-conference wins towards bowl eligibility.
I have no reason to think we wouldn't take them up on a one and done. Or a game at Reliant would be gangbusters for both schools. Although we know how the Bryan-College Station chamber of commerce feels about that idea. I do know we're actively looking for a 12th game for our schedule, though.
TAMU has won a national title. If you're counting Bearkats football then I'll just throw women's basketball at you. Something more on par with that caliber of sport.
Too late now. Have fun playing the Burrkatz. *edit: apparently word is that the UH AD and A&M's AD had discussions about it, UH wanted a series, A&M wanted one-and-done, neither side budged. Considering SMU signed a 2-2 deal with A&M, I can see why UH was insisting on a fair trade, if not a 2-1. If we end up with a crappy team or lopsided deal for our 12th game, I will be upset at not taking the A&M offer. Provided it was fairly lucrative. Otherwise, it was a shrewd decision.
