WojYahooNBA "NBA owners have pushed commissioner David Stern to kill the deal sending Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell Y! Sports." Came from here (obviously first from twitter): http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/page/dimelive-111208/daily-dime-live Sounds like trade is at the very best still a huge question mark.
Note: NBAonESPN: RT @ESPNSteinLine: CP3 trade with Lakers will NOT go through Friday and Chris Paul is expected in Hornets camp, according to sources
After seeing all we would be giving up I'm not certain I would be disappointed if it didn't go through. On the other hand, it'll be awkward tomorrow when everybody is just like "back to work, nothing happened." Feather's are going to be ruffled and people are not going to be happy.
Oh man, this would be really awkward for DM. Why would the deal not go through? Honestly, I am ok either way, but I would welcome Scola back with open arms. DD
The thing about hoping the trade is somehow nullified is you just threw a monkey wrench into the Rockets cap situation and we are back to where we were last season when we flamed out as the #9 seed. I would rather see what happens with Gasol and possibly Nene. Beats standing pat on a (barely) lottery bound team.
Are the Hornets taking on more salary than is going out? If so, the owners have a point, there is no owner of that franchise, they should not be able to jettison their best player and take on more money. Anyone want to bet CUBAN is all over this? DD
GOOD. With giving up Martin.. this deal SUCKED for Houston. Plus.. have there ever been a veto of owners before? Sounds weird to me that's even an option.
For the love of god, we are not getting Nene....It doesn't make any sense. Adding Nene at $13 million + Gasol at $18 million locks you in and we have no more cap space. If you homers realize, a lineup with Lowry, Lee, Budinger, Gasol, and Nene will barely put up 80 ppg. Where will the money come for another scorer? On top of that, we lose a draft pick in the first round that will prob be early 20s. Yes, we have cap space, but we shouldn't use it on Nene
I think you nailed it. Not sure about Cuban part, but why if I'm an owner do I want to pay more money for the Lakers to get another superstar. Seems a bit ridiculous.
I don't see King Stern vetoing this trade. I just can't see him rejecting a major player going to a major market, but I'm not sure how much outside influence he would face.
