he is involved in 3 of the worst playoffs blowouts in laker history. game 7 in 06 vs the suns: 31 pt loss game 6 in 08 vs the celtics: 38 pt loss game 4 in 11 vs the mavs: 36 pt loss and this is one of the top 15 players in the history of the game. all this happened while he is in his prime. thoughts?
Classic case of "one guy can't beat a team by himself?" That '08 Celtics team was just too good defensively. In today's game, the Mavs were just too good offensively. And I'm not sure what happened in that Suns game, but it was Nash's second MVP year, along with Stoudemire as the second fiddle, and D'Antoni's run-n-gun coaching, so I'm not surprised.
he averaged 25 points this year. and 25 points for the playoffs. he's still among the top 10 players in the L. you are not out of your prime until you are no longer a top 20-25 player in this L (if you were a superstar). it's amazing that kobe let this happen multiple times. one player may not win a game, but one GREAT player can have a lot of impact on a game.
Hes still a great player and will go down as one of the greatest player to ever play the game, so all that doesnt really matters. But that should tell people he will never be on Jordan level because I cant see a jordan team loosing that bad in a game where everything is on the line. In 06 his team wasnt that good, but he didnt have to quit the way he did. In 08 the Boston team defense was just that good. They shut down the whole Lakers team nothing Kobe could do about that because hes not Jordan. I wont blame him for the loss the Lakers had to today because it looked like he came to play. But the rest of the Lakers didnt so after awhile he said F it too.
Pretty much. The Lakers vs Suns...just think back on that roster. That team was trash, they fought to just get into the playoffs and had Smush Parker starting at PG and Kwame starting at Center. Luke Walton also was like their 3rd best player and Odom their 2nd. Think about that, Odom is now the 6th man and Luke is a bench warmer. As for the Celtics, that was a great team. Also Bynum was not 100% and Pau was still a new member to the team. Not many excuses for this recent showing though.
Yea hes still a top tie player but hes clearly pass his prime. Hes not the player he was a few years ago. He cant even win one game by himself, the old Kobe could do that.
5 rings in 7 finals appearances. You may hate the guy but he has accomplished much as in one of the best players of his era. Respect. That being said, I'm not angry to see him fall. Rather enjoy it every time it happens. It's just he has accomplished soooooo much more than Lebron who is trying to coattail his way to a 'ship on wade's shoulders.
You can make up and use whatever definition you want. The fact is Kobe is past his prime. He's an all-time great, but age catches up to everybody.
