With the recent comments from Adelman and also Les, it is quite clear that Adelman will not be back this summer. I think his fate was sealed with the trade of Battier and Brooks, that trade signified a vote of no confidence in his rotations. This will be the first time that Morey will have primary say in the coach of this team. I think Morey will bring in a younger coach who is fully aligned with moneyball. I would be very surprised if an experienced head coach was brought in, I fully expect a coach in the vein of a Morey type.
I even think we will promote our coach on Rio Grande (Bill Fitch?) as one of the assistant coaches. That's to get continuity on the offensive side at least. I read somewhere he used to coach in Great Britain as well.
If by Moneyball coach you mean an underrated coach who is a great value and an asset to his company, then I can't wait.
Failed logic here. I mean can you actually define what a "moneyball" coach is? Rockets are highly inclined to evaluating basketball through statistics. They also recognize the importance of everything beyond that stats. Im guessing Morey convinces Les to offer Rick an extension. I think Rick hangs it up though.
Perhaps a "moneyball coach" is simply a coach who can grasp the concept that points scored differential is infinitely more important than points scored. Adelman is obviously not bright enough to grasp that simple concept.
"Moneyball Coach" as in cheap and always expendable. It would also mean a revolving door of coaches. What has the City of Houston done to deserve so much mediocrity in its sports teams.
Moneyball coach probably means someone who utilizes every player on the team? Don't let cheap talent rot on the bench and get everything you can from underpaid players?
