not necessarily. we have posters here who routinely decry racism in all its forms and guises. Just look at the last 3-4 months of discussion about BLM etc. On the other hand the very same posters exhibit misogynist tendencies on a near-daily basis. Just look at the past couple of days at the harlot thread, the press secretary thread, etc. I think posters here are hyper-sensitive about racism and utterly blind about sexism. That's my hypothesis. The poll tests the hypothesis.
Its actually a question ive never considered. So , it might be interesting ... but prolly not the best convo to have on an internet message board, even one as nice as CF
Ok well this is a different question then. Which is more trendy, which one people are more self conscious about is one thing, which is “worse” is very different.
I get it but your reasoning for asking is more of curiosity of which one people are more concerned with, not which is actually worse. To me that makes more sense to be curious about, then actually trying to quantity the murders, the rapes, the harassment and all else in this awful world.... because I’m not so sure if it’s possible to quantify and rank that objectively.
not necessarily. lots bad choices/values involve ranking. Would you rather drown or burn to death? neither is desirable, but many people report fearing one over the other. In that case they would rank the two evils as one being slightly "better" or "worse" than the other. here we are simply asking if people have a ranking on the question
Sure but there is a direct physical difference in death from burning or drowning. If two people both burn but one for being a women one for being black is it really different? In theory they are equally evil, in life both past and present of course there are differences but I’m not sure it’s quantifiable at a objective level, I mean maybe if we isolate it enough into specific places and demographics in the world we could try to bring in some data, but world wide? That’s too big for my pea brain to calculate.
It's racism since it negatively affects more people. We just have a bunch of dudes here who would feel like jerks admitting that racists are worse than sexists. Sad. I mean, unless this question refers to the sexist robot overlords of the future with gender envy who will hate all humans equally.
It’s not that simple, there are only so many interracial interactions in the world, pretty much every women in the world interacts with men, and of course most have relationships, the amount of women who get physically abused by partners is ridiculously high. This isn’t a question that I think anybody can just quickly bro science up a quick answer for.
Racism! Males and females do have some substantial difference by which to "discriminate" between them. For example, with military service, there is a somewhat-conceivable rationale for discriminating between sexes: females can't carry gear and bodies the way men can. (But I think there should be no discrimination there.) U.S. Vietnam Fatal Casualty Statistics Male: 58,212 Female: 8 https://www.archives.gov/research/military/vietnam-war/casualty-statistics#gender
Have you every heard of https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_infanticide That’s a fun bone to throw in the mix, and to be clear male victim sexism falls into the definition of sexism.
Agree wholeheartedly! 1) Infanticide is murder. 2) Sexism is very bad. You see how we don't bat an eye when 58,000 men are killed and only 8 women? Seems unequal to me. . . . COVID kills more men than women. Anyone care? We hear lots of talk of protecting the elderly and other demographic groups. Let's care about men too. We're allowed.
