The people in Texas worried about the looting don't even have a stake in the game, they're out there posting on Facebook from a gated community in Rosenberg, TX while they remote-in to work.
I'm glad you finally admitted why you do what you do here. How much does it pay to be a professional troll, Baffled?
It's not Trump-level outrageous, but I'll tell you what I don't like about it. 1. By focusing on this tiny and maybe even fictitious population of people who come from out of state to riot in Texas, he frames the issue as though the attitudes expressed in the protests are not legitimate because they are not homegrown in Texas. But, since it is very likely that the great majority of people rioting in Texas are actually Texas residents, it is homegrown and legitimate. What statement does he have for Texans who break things because they are sick of not being heard by their government? 2. Crossing state lines to commit a crime can be a federal matter. To properly be federal though, there should be a conspiracy or premeditation that can be demonstrated that the perps crossed state lines expressly for committing crimes in another state. Some may have crossed state lines just to peaceably protest and then changed their mind once they arrived and set a store on fire. That's a state matter. 3. Being the champion of states' rights that he is, I find it hypocritical that he now invokes federal prosecution for something that fits comfortably within the state's power and a task that the State of Texas can actually quite easily accomplish. If we can identify someone committing a felony during a riot a state prosecutor can bring charges (and is probably more interested in bringing charges) even if that person resides in another state. What if federal prosecutors wanted to bring charges for Liberate Texas! protesters who came from other states and committed crimes? I think we'd hear a lot more from him about jurisdiction.
I generally think you have some of the best takes here, but I don't see 1 and 2 as an issue or being true.
