If Florida were a country, it would rank fourth in the world for the most new cases a day behind the United States, Brazil and India.

Its daily increases have already surpassed the highest daily tally reported by any European country during the height of the pandemic there, Reuters reports.

Florida has also broken New York State’s record of 12,847 new cases on 10 April when it was the epicenter of the US outbreak.

Between TBT. NWSL, MLS, the encouraging trend is that the numbers are getting progressively less as the events move forward. Getting very hard to argue that the bubbles aren't safer than everyday life right now. (The exception would be in the event of someone doing a total lockdown, but should be clear by now that that's not a realistic comp.)

All that said, my guess is that people should prepare for at least a small handful of positive tests this week due to the incubation period from people who brought it in from their home markets. But the good news is that the other leagues have been able to contain those without it immediately sparking an outbreak throughout the league. Still early, but positive trends, yup

I find it impossible that Florida wont be totally lockdowned in two weeks from now.
I mean I have understood that the governor there is a total r****d but still..
In two weeks from now afloeida will have more than 300 deaths a day.
Thats why I argued about the personel. Apart from being a danger to the Nba they themselves will be at risk by having to go out to work when there will be total lockdown.

First it was UFC, then PGA, then NWSL, then MLS, etc. Every one of these, according to many loud voices on Twitter and various message boards, was supposedly going to have to "shut right back down" if they even made it to their planned restart. None have. Not sure why the person who believes that the odds favor a sports league moving forward is the "Iraqi Defense Minister" of this analogy.

NBA is a -300 to start and -220 to finish, by the way, per Vegas odds. If you're really that confident, there's some significant money that can be made.

 

I think the MLS just found new cases in players of two teams in their "bubble" and cancelled a game. Doesnt look they can last much longer.

 

The tests turned out to be negative, and the game will be rescheduled.
