I love Watson but we have to be honest too. He’s not top 3. Top 7 ish? Yeah I could see that but not top 3
If we’re talking future, I think he can be great. He does have to work on better decision making (when to get down, quicker diagnosis) but the QB skills alone are there. Way more than Jackson imo. Jackson just has more physical tools
I’ll give you Mahomes and Wilson. Brady, Rodgers, and to a slightly lesser extent Brees all looked like they took steps backwards last year as Father Time comes barreling at them. I am a Lamar fan as well but he’s had 2 horrible playoff games, the questions about his ability to rise up in big games will start to come to question if he doesn’t improve drastically in the post season.
Interesting. Watson a high school champion and college champion. A QB who took down one of; if not the best college defense in history, and took them to the brink the year before. Watson a guy who has had the spotlight on him every day since taking over his powerhouse high school team as a FRESHMAN. One of the most CLUTCH NFL QBs so far in his short career - yet somehow he wouldn't be able to do what Mahomes has done for Andy Reid?? Well all I can do is disagree. I could probably argue that a multitude of QBs could have won that SB for KC last year. Dont forget how much of a vital component coaching is in football. IMO Mahomes would have been killed playing for Houston. His confidence would have been wrecked and he would have been another David Carr, while Watson would have done his thing and then some for Andy Reid. Andy would have come up with a ton of creative ways to get Deshaun in space and amplify the skill set .. same as he has for Mahomes. Should be awesome to see both of their career arcs moving forward. Still sad for me as a Texan fan to come to grips with Watson maybe not wanting to be here long term, and yet KC fan has the position wrapped up for the next decade. Sigh.
Don’t have the article but top 10 qbs votes on by 50 executives and coaches: deshaun at 4 https://insider.espn.com/nfl/inside...g-nfl-top-10-qbs-2020-follows-patrick-mahomes
We'll have to agree to disagree. This ain't highschool/college. Lots of guys have won championship's at those levels and haven't been successful in the NFL. Look at McCarron as an example. Hope you right though
You're hoping Of course your not sold on anything that the Texans have done. With Watson's style of play, you're right a 50/50 guy is needed. Stills can win 50/50 balls
This would be the equivalent of the rockets trading harden away after the first lost to the warriors. I understand you like tannehill more than Deshaun but you’re saying we tried once, oh well let’s blow it up and try again in 3 years. That thinking is how you become the Cleveland Browns or New York Jets
https://theathletic.com/1912300/202...extension-and-a-new-team-name-for-washington/ Where do the Patriots go at the quarterback position in the future? There are rumblings about Deshaun Watson. Is it as simple as the draft? — Nicholas L. Watson? What, are you crazy? Watson will be with the Houston Texans for a good decade or so. He ain’t going anywhere. There is absolutely no shot that will ever happen.
I guess everything good that I see you're not down with winning a championship. No QB has won a championship taking up more than 14.1 percent of the cap
