In the wake of Donald Trump’s embarrassing rally in Tulsa last Saturday, dozens of Secret Service officers and agents have been ordered to self-quarantine because they may have been exposed to COVID-19. Two Secret Service employees were among the six advance staffers who tested positive for coronavirus hours before the rally. The day before those positive tests, they attended a planning meeting with dozens of other Secret Service staff. Following the rally, another two campaign staffers tested positive.
That's a solid statement she made besides just saying she'd vote for Biden. Lot of interesting points:
Steve Kornacki on Morning Joe made an interesting point. Biden has ceded the national stage to Trump and normally that would be a big problem but it appears to be helping both him and the Democratic chances. Trump is doing worse in the suburbs and in polling that seems to be pulling down the GOP. If another Democrat had won the nomination such as Sanders or Warren there's no way of knowing for certain that they wouldn't have followed Biden's strategy. Sanders and Warren might've continued to press against Trump and that might not have worked so well for Democrats since Trump needs an opponent to respond to.

However, the chilling aspect to this controversy is how Biden now advocates such private censorship and wants to enlist these companies to silence his opponent — rather than engage his views in the public forum. Censorship and speech regulation have become a regular component to Democratic messaging and demands. There was a time when the Democratic Party was a fierce advocate for free speech values. It seems that many are falling out of love with free speech, including many who now view it as a danger. For years, we have discussed the unrelenting attacks on free speech in Europe with the expansion of hate speech laws and the general criminalization of speech, including international speech crimes. Some in the United States would like to follow down that dangerous path (and universities are reinforcing the view of the need to regulate speech). The implications of such anti-speech policies are evident in Germany where a survey, conducted by the Institut für Demoskopie Allensbach(and published in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung) found that only 18 percent of Germans feel free to express their views in public. It is the most vivid example of how Europeans are learning to live without free speech. This movement has now made it to our shores as vividly demonstrated by the presumptive Democratic nominee publicly demanding that his opponent’s views be censored. This is precisely the risk that many of us warned about. Such speech regulation creates an insatiable appetite for more and more censorship, as shown in countries like France, England, and Germany. The lack of any media push back on Biden’s demand shows how resistance to such anti-free speech views are becoming more mainstream in the United States. Biden's moves here deserve more attention and scrutiny.
Agreed. Biden's campaign should not have called for the removal of the Tweets/Facebook posts and I'm glad both companies refused. That's a step way too far.

It annoys me when they show the 2016 election outcome compared to a summer poll because it presumes summer polling has more predictive power than it has. So, a third data point is needed -- what the summer polls in that last election were saying. Around mid-June 2016, Clinton vs Trump, according to RealClearPolitics: MI: Clinton +8 WI: Clinton +11 PA: Clinton +4 FL: Clinton +2 AZ: Clinton +1 NC: Trump +1 You can see the 2016 summer polling's big miss was in the Midwest and they might be headed that way again for Biden as far as we can tell. In FL, AZ, and NC, Biden's polling is clearly outpacing what Clinton was doing, so maybe that means more success in November.
