This is a bittersweet tribute... Just a reminder of how we had GS on the ropes and didn't finish it off.
Ugh, why'd you have to post this... Every time I get over it, someone reminds me of that god forsaken series and the double robbery we experienced. Most painful Rockets memory of my lifetime. Even worse than the Stockton buzzer beater.
This is my first time watching highlights from that series (outside of Harden's dunk). Closest we came to a championship in this era... we were going to defeat one of the greatest teams ever assembled and go to the finals. And those Harden non-calls definitely killed our chance.
I get that this current role doesn't allow EG to fully play his game, as he's asked to be the primary microwave guy off the bench (which equals a lot of catch-and-shoot 27 footers, and not too many opportunities to create off the dribble next to Harden/Russ/CP3), but he definitely should be doing more than he has been the last 2 seasons. He really has a ton of offensive talent, and his knack for getting to the rim off the dribble (and finishing/getting to the line) is so underutilized. I still think he could still be a 22/4/4 type player on a mediocre team. We need to make sure his confidence is high for the playoffs, because we'll need him on his A game.
I like Eric Gordon. I think he is legitimately fouled every time he goes to the rim and the reason he is yelling like someone shot him in the toe. I'm serious. Eric Deserves Free Throws. Also, I know it isn't good for his game and he has lost the weight, but I lowkey love how fat he is/was. I LOVED the Thicc Boy Era in Houston -- CP3, EG, and PJ were so fun to watch.
I'm telling you guys, playoff Gordon is a entirely different beast. He does this almost every post season for us.
