Guess CNBC or Cuomo aren't viable sources to you. Got it... Here's the latest from Fauci. Healthy people shouldn't wear masks.
Did you read the article? The largest percentage of the folks that stayed at home were from nursing homes where people are coming in and out. Also, some folks staying at home while others in their household go out and bring the germs back doesn't help. People not staying at home hurts those that do stay at home.
"Latest?" Is that sarcasm? That video is from 2 months ago (3/8). If you ask Fauci again, I'm sure he'll advise for mask usage now.
This doesn’t mean what you think it means. Imagine what the rate would be WITHOUT social distancing. You are like the dog with his head behind a tree thinking he is hidden while his ass is completely visible.
And even in this March video, Fauci doesn't say it is useless to wear masks absolutely. Rather, he says the effectiveness is low for people trying to keep the virus out, but high when worn by those infected in preventing further spread. Which would be useful in a coronavirus pandemic when much of the infection is occurring through people who are asymptomatic, no? Also, a main point of Fauci is that ordinary people buying masks would lead to a shortage for medical workers. So, cloth masks and other non-medical masks wouldn't be an issue.
"Here's the latest, breaking news about Face Masks!!!" /posts clip from two months ago that Dr. Fauci has already reversed course on. Just remember to stay away from bathrooms -- both public and private. We don't want you catching the 'Rona. Upside is ******** your pants will keep people six feet away.
Make your mind, do not wear a mask which makes you beautiful and healthy. You have too much freedom to do it.
From Monday to Saturday we've gone from 70K to 80K deaths and rising, and rising more quickly as a result of eased restrictions in backwards states like Texas. I wonder what number is high enough for you to care about it. 100K? 200K? A million? Regarding "the rest of us," the rest of us are commonly spreading it to the "people at risk," whether we're symptomatic or not. Also regarding "the rest of us," we are all "at risk" and no one is immune to the virus. It was originally thought that only older, immunocompromised people were at serious risk, but many young, otherwise healthy people have died from it. That isn't news. It's been known for months now. Others, who have survived it, have had severe, longterm damage to essential organs and have had many years shaved off of their lives. So it's not just the deaths that matter. p.s. I'm aware that nothing will get through to you. Even though I'm posting in reply to you, I'm mostly posting for anyone else that still thinks this isn't a big enough deal to take safety measures, or that are doing Rudy Gobert things because they think it's nothing and that they're being funny. (Donovan Mitchell doesn't think it's funny.) In Texas this is happening way too often since Abbott lifted the stay-at-home order, and Texas deaths per day have risen exponentially as a result of this bad, dangerous, selfish behavior, that will ultimately have a short-term benefit to the economy followed by a much worse effect to the economy in the long-run. Culture wars are also breaking out here and elsewhere, where people that are sick of following safety measures are picking fights with mask-wearers. You said before that history will prove you "RIGHT." It has already proven you wrong, many times over.
Reading this thread reminded me of this book from a while ago... How We Know What Isn't So - The Fallibility of Human Reason in Everyday Life by Thomas Gilovich Seems apropos..
I'm done with the politically motivated fools here. We are at Great Depression levels of unemployment due to this. If it continues, That will be where the real death toll will be massive. But you kids keep telling everyone to stay home: something where is ZERO, ZILCH, NADA data ever because this has NEVER been done and is essentially a "hunch."
Deaths by COVID are a lagging indicator of 3-5 weeks. The reason deaths are rising is the peak of new infections in most places was 3-5 weeks ago. No state has eased restrictions long enough ago to see new deaths. It'll take 7-14 days to even see an increase in new infections from stay-at-home orders being lifted.
First, if you're not a Trumpy Republican, I don't mean to insinuate you are one. I made that mistake with another poster here before. So if you're not, this is for others who are. You're right. The numbers are largely going up as fast as they are because we haven't had proper testing and we have more as the days and weeks wear on. (We still aren't testing enough because there aren't enough tests, despite Trump's' false claim that "anyone that wants a test can get a test.") But they'll go up more, and more quickly, as a result of easing restrictions. Trump and Abbott have already copped to that and said it was a good tradeoff to get the economy going again. Trump's first prediction was based on the first 15 known cases (not even deaths), which he said would "soon be zero" cases. He also refused to do anything about it, at the most critical possible time, out of a "nothing to see here" concern for the stock market. He was trying to wish it away, just like he did when he said it would magically disappear soon--at the beginning of the outbreak and again this week. After months, after the virus had exploded in America, where he was preparing to encourage states to lift restrictions, his prediction went up from having been zero, to 70K. About a week ago, he predicted 100K and said something like 'I said 70K but you could see 80K, 100K, it just keeps going up.' He has also said he hasn't been wrong once during all of this. He also said "nobody could have predicted this" when several experts had predicted it to his face. He needs to stop making predictions. It's more prevalent than the current numbers show, it's going up faster and faster and it will continue to go up faster and faster. And campaign ads will rightly show how many times he's been wrong or straight up lied, and the damage that his willful ignorance and misleading information to the American people has wrought. He also doesn't "take any responsibility" and says his response to the virus is unbelievable. It really, really is.
p.s. I meant that they would continue to rise more and more rapidly as a result of eased restrictions. That's not my opinion. As I said in my last post, it's Trump's and Abbott's too.
