I think it's too early for us to really figure out the death rate (esp. with so many peeps still sick), but my understandi g was that flu is about 0.1%.

When I have seen TV news clips in this pandemic (not often), it's pretty disappointing how often numbers are misread, misstated, and just generally f*ed up.

Hopefully you get good news - don't have it or it's done and over etc.

Regardless, definitely agree with you on taquitos, haha, I don't get them often but they're great either after a long night 11pm or before 11am... My issue is getting there before 11.. At least on weekends

Hope you feel better, I also read your post before and had something similar in late Feb/early March, I thought it felt almost like flu coming on but never progressed after aches/bad headache/ low fever... Just rested couple days.

I live in Austin area so allergies definitely bother me several months out of the year but this felt worse, especially since I manage my seasonal allergies decently...

Where are we now with the economy? Better? Jobs coming back to people? What are some news sources that cover such things

Seriously? I'm reading there were a few signs that things aren't quite as terrible as expected, but another 4+ million applied for unemployment this week and unemployment is probably up around 20%. Pretty crazy bad.

Stock market has proven that it is independent of any real well-being of anyone any of us know. LOL.

If I see one more ****ing "we'll get through this together" ad on the TV from some bullshit brand I'm gonna go cytokine storm.

We'll get through this if you ****ers act collectively and not like vampires

How did American cowboys smoke in the 60s???

The biggest study is from France. 11.000 people but I don't know how they compare to American cowboys or the Chinese.

In my opinion, the likeliest mechanism is that a substance in tobacco whether that is nicotine or something else acts as an ACE2 antagonist to the virus.
There is the theory about CO and hypoxia which I think you mean about resistance but I think with SUCH big statistical difference we should look at a more immediate mechanism.

I am a little infuriated the more I look into ACE2.
Apparently scientists only discovered that it had an important role in the lungs after the first SARS in 2003.
What happened then? 17 years we had.
Noone studied it. Sars was gone so no point, huh?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Well good job humanity. Now trying to cram for the finals at the last minute while we had so much time.

If we could understand the role of ACE2 already, we could know what drugs we should try, what could protect and what could harm.

    But NOPE.
In February they said that high pressure ACE2 medicine was harmful now 2 months later they think it is beneficial.
Black became White because they are discovering and studying what should have been studied years ago at the last minute.

A slight detour about TeleMedicine - Virtual Dr.

TeleMedicine is fairly new, but I think eventually that integrated machines/monitors for BP, Pulse, Temperature and Oxygen will be marketed to the consumer.

Have a home machine/monitor with IoT capability and the computer in the Doctor's office can pull the data for the Dr to use when doing the Virtual Visit and the computer will also be able to log the information to a database for record keeping purposes to compare against future readings from the patient.

I think we're in for the long haul until an effective vaccine is out.

I guess people would still die in the summer, no way many people die of Influenza in the summer, that is the major plight we're in.

Some are just social smokers, some get lung cancer or pulmonary issues vastly because of Smog particles.

Smoking is an issue like everywhere else, just not the single unique trait of that country.

What could go wrong during a pandemic? Ah yes, we are about a month from hurricane season starting.

Hurricanes usually do not kick in until late july/august.

Besides, with all of the CO2 cleaned up, we have solved climate change, thus no more hurricanes.

sigh. You know better than that cheap shot.

carbon levels would only go back to normal via sequestration or hundreds of thousands of years w no excess anthropogenic input.

and yeah, as has been stated a million times... smart people can’t link one hurricane to climate change, BUT: warmer air and warmer water load the dice for a higher probability of stronger storms. It’s sometimes called the “well duh” principle of storm formation.

I hate myself for typing this **** for the millionth time.
