I'm guessing BOB remembers Brooks from like 3 or 4 years ago, same as David Johnson. BOB has a time machine doesnt understand how to use it to gain an advantage and is getting advice on personel from himself four years ago, instead of four years in the future. I cant see any other way BOB can think this is a good trade. This is turning into the all-has-been team.
So the Texans traded in a 2-3 year old Mercedes S class for a 2005 Range Rover with a check engine light and 2-3 year old Lincoln... AND the Texans are now making monthly payments.
WRs are notoriously difficult to draft, getting instant production being even more difficult. Cooks is still relatively young and he gives DW4 another deep threat if/when Fuller goes down. With the WR depth in this class, think we can go defense with our first two picks and still net a decent WR prospect in the 4th. That being said, a 2nd rounder is a pretty premium pick for a guy like Cooks and his contract blows up after this year.
Someone needs to cut BoB's internet. He is doing too much damage while in quarantine. Save us please.
BOB has complete control. Easterby doesn’t piss without BOB’s permission. I don’t doubt Easterby supported The move though. Cooks is a good player when he is healthy but there is a reason he is on his 4th team now. The concern with him is his health. He had two pretty nasty concussions last year. So I wouldn’t have made the move but IF Cooks is healthy next year the Texans are better than a week ago. Also I agree with you that it is hard to get a receiver that hits the ground running and Watson has to have someone to throw to. Cooks is a 4.3 forty guy so he will stretch the field... just a very risky trade by BOB because there is a real chance Cooks’ best days are behind him.
Damn, I saw Bill O'Brien trending and thought he maybe got fired. Nope, Trader Bill making another trade.
If everyone stays healthy for the most part that's a lot of weapons for DW4 - TE, RB, Coutee, etc. in the middle might have really big years if everyone is concerned with the speed on the outside
Start thinking of ways that BOB can downgrade the overall talent at a position but actually spend more money to do so... we already have RB and WR covered... are there any really bad TE’s out there that we can over pay? Too bad Jimmy Graham already suckered the Bears into paying him, he would have been a perfect over pay while downgrading the position. Maybe Watson and a draft pick for Matt Ryan? That feels like a BOB move.
brandin cooks is actually underated. He has over 1000 yards every year and played every single game prior to last year in his 6 year career. They kept him off the field for safety concerns because the rams season was already over when it begun. Not bad trade. 3 speedsters. Are we drafting a really good TE? Texans has not ever had a good TE since owen daniels.
Texans acquired WR Brandin Cooks and a 2022 fourth-round pick from the Rams in exchange for the No. 57 overall pick of the 2020 draft. It's the Texans' pick, though they still have the No. 40 overall selection they received in the DeAndre Hopkins trade. Cooks, of course, will immediately slide in as Hopkins' replacement. Cooks is a downgrade from a talent, versatility and contract aspect, but he will be a solid No. 2 wideout. Cooks, who has suffered some concerning (head) injuries in recent years but not missed much time, is coming off by far the worst campaign of his career. Somehow, this is the third time he's been traded in three years. He has a bad contract and has suffered at least five concussions as a pro. Amazingly, Cooks is still only 27 (in September). The difference between Cooks and Kenny Stills probably isn't as great as many might assume, but Will Fuller's injury history made it prudent for the Texans to fortify their receiver corps. Nevertheless, the Texans essentially flipped Hopkins for Cooks and David Johnson, a trade that would not go through on Madden. Bill O'Brien has never met a double down he couldn't pass up. ______________________ https://overthecap.com/player/brandin-cooks/2959/ No guaranteed salary beyond this year (although $1M (2022) & $1.5M (2023) offseason roster bonuses)
