Texans signed DT Timmy Jernigan, formerly of the Eagles, to a one-year, $3.75 million contract. The deal includes $1.25 million guaranteed. There was clearly no need to bring Jernigan back in Philly with ex-Steelers DT Javon Hargrave and reserve run-stuffer Hassan Ridgeway under contract. The 27-year-old bounced back mightily last year, overcoming a potential season-ending foot injury in the team's second game only to return and finish with two sacks and three quarterback hits across 274 defensive snaps as the Eagles' rotational starter. He'll likely take on a larger role ahead of Eddie Vanderdoes given D.J. Reader's exit to Cincinnati in free agency. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-the-50-best-available-nfl-free-agents-in-2020 The last two years for Jernigan have been hindered by injuries, limiting him to only 406 snaps, and he ended up posting his two lowest-graded seasons overall in his six-year NFL career. Prior to the injuries, Jernigan was becoming a strong run-defender by ranking 33rd and 17th in run-defense grade in 2016 and 2017. Jernigan has been a relatively average pass-rusher throughout his career — not good enough to take him out of that “risky” category given the injuries as of late.
Good move. Would still use a pick on a NT in the later rounds. I wish we would sign Clowney and Logan Ryan. And maybe get Swift & two receivers (in a huge class) in the second and third rounds
No. I've just seen the stats from his last few seasons. 3.7 yds a carry or something like that. Makes more sense to be real to myself and not fantasize about David Johnson coming to save the day.
I don’t know anything about Swift...but why use the 40th pick on an RB? Even aside from David Johnson and how replaceable RBs are...with so few first rounders moving forward, a RB is your highest draft pick? Drafting RBs that high just doesn’t entice me.
it's a good signing. but i still hate the Texans. because they have robbed me of my soul. they are a soul-crushing organization. but yay! SPLASH
Texans need a third HB, one who is more suited at running between the tackles. David Johnson and Duke Johnson are more spread receiving type backs. Don’t wanna give David Johnson too many touches with his history.
Shouldn’t have gotten DJ in the first place. I don’t see how they draft a RB in the second when they’re already investing what $18M at that position?
He cant stay healthy in college, I doubt he stays healthy in the pro's. Give me a guy like McFarland later in the draft. McFarland reminds me of a young Darren Sproles.
It looks SO much like his burner that it’s clearly not his burner. It’s just a fan trying to pretend to be BOBs burner.
