The last time there was mass reddit-styled hysteria over human bat consumption being the cause was discovered to be incorrect. A swinery in Malaysia was found to be responsible There was the presence of a bat colony nearby. It was transmitted through their feces.
Not as verifiable as Covid, but yes. yes it did. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3747529/ This was the conclusion of the most reputable investigative research paper into SARS, and the conclusions were: 1. It is critically important to communicate with the general public in a full, routine, and multi-dimensional manner. In addition, we shall also be able to remind the people whether there is a potential for an outbreak of a communicable disease; once a pandemic comes, the government should promptly release official information to stop rumors - Once again, the Chinese govt didn't do this , causing things to spiral 2. Even if there is no outbreak, efforts should also be taken to encourage the general public to live a healthy lifestyle. For example, the Cantonese people have the habit of eating wild animals, which can pose the risk of virus transmission. Therefore, the general public should be educated to stop eating wild animals. - Once again, the Chinese did the exact same thing with far worse results
Both SARS and COVID-19 came from bats, as have many other outbreaks in other countries as bats are a natural reservoir for viruses of all types. They pass the virus on to an intermediate animal than to humans. In Australia it was bat to horse to human. In other places it was bat to a pig farm. They suspect with SARS it was bat to civet. China has banned the wildlife trade for consumption already. Honestly I don't think the main risk is people eating bats or wild animals, it's the entire trade itself. Even the villagers living near bats is a problem. But you have to end the use of these animals for any purpose including medicinal or for fur. We need to stop humans from interacting with wild animals that may have been exposed to viruses via bats or rodents.
There is no evidence that SARS started from the consumption of bat meat or related to it. Secondly consumption is only one part of the issue and likely not the main problem given far more wild life is used outside of consumption. Not just in China but the world. Both bats and rodents - which make up half the population of mammals globally, are strong vectors for viruses and are everywhere. Secondly, before you complain about China not regulating industries, remember that most of you folks on the right (and Trump being a champion) criticize any kind of regulation of industry as bad for industry, and industry should be allowed to self-regulate. So why does one standard apply to US companies but another to Chinese businesses?
Let’s not forget that even though there was a recent case of hantavirus in the PRC the last outbreak was in Yosemite.
Seems there is new evidence that the coronavirus may have originated with Malayan Pangolins which are smuggled into China. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2169-0
Good grief, at a loss for words: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/...s-bear-bile-as-coronavirus-covid19-treatment/
If this is true then the rest of the world needs to immediately cease all ties with China: https://www.jpost.com/international...operating-despite-coronavirus-outbreak-622917
Do you really believe anything these toadies in China have to say? They should be barred from the international scientific and medical community until they begin to guarantee the free exchange of ideas. Until then, this should be taken with a grain of salt and considered govt pressured hogwash.
Thank you. The world needs to cease working with them until they give their people freedom and when they stop unsafe food practices that THEY claimed gave us the illness.
I question anyone who takes Chinese academia seriously at this point. And that includes Nature if they promote questionable sources from the CCP. And especially if it concerns a virus they've been lying about and concealing from the start.
Nature is apolitical and doesn't work to promote anyone. I think you should read the study. Just because it is Chinese scientists doesn't mean it is illegitimate. Articles go through peer review before being published. It's quite a bit of rigor a study goes through before being published. You are showing bias at its worse man.
If it's not China it will be Indonesia or wherever unregulated wet markets exist.. Those pangolins sure do look like and armodillo crossed with a sloth. I wonder how children that have seen "Ice Age" or the series in general feel about 'Sid' or 'John Ligazamo' being consumed. It must anger children in Japan knowing it looks like a Pokemon...
I don't think wet markets and chicken farms are really comparable, because I'm pretty sure that most of the illnesses we can get from chicken are at least known about. Exotic animal markets are pandemics waiting to happen. If COVID-19 didn't erupt, something else was bound to pop up sooner or later. And people who think eating ILLEGALLY SOURCED AND ENDANGERED ANIMALS like those pangolins and their little pangopups make the human body more virile should go die first so they don't pass on their ignorance onto their children. Uh...and I know yall are probably tired of hearing this from me but I'd just like to state again that people who purchase **** at markets like this are a vast minority in China. Take it from someone who's lived and worked there for a good while and complains about everything--most normal Chinese people condemn the wet markets too. And they also condemn the Dogmeat festival, which I have protested against alongside Chinese folks a few years back in Beijing. And no, most don't believe that the virus originated from American soldiers, either (nationalists do love to push this false accusation, but those types of people are the same anywhere and don't deserve our attention or respect.)
