Interesting take. https://cnsnews.com/article/interna...ronavirus-china-racist-numerous-diseases-have
It's not a take and this is not for debate. Wuhan virus would fit on that list because of its origin, but it doesn't matter. The virus was named in the 2020s SARS-CoV-2 and its disease COVID19. These are the terms used by the world medical community. We don't call H1N1 the American Virus despite it arising in the US. Unless it comes out the Chinese government designed and released this virus, this virus should never be referenced as China virus.
I still don't get it. Who cares what it's called and why be outraged when it's called something you don't approve of? If it originated in Oklahoma, would anyone have an objection to calling it the Oklahoma Flu? With all the **** going down in the world right now, the biggest problem you've got is someone referring to the virus as the China virus? I could care less if anyone called the H1N1 the American Virus. The Spaniards don't seem to take offense about the Spanish Flu. Is it offensive to you because you are from China? Just asking to understand. I'm not trying to insult you or anyone else. I just don't get how it becomes racism by calling it anything unless there's an intent to discriminate or its used in a derogatory manner. I call it the Corona Virus simply because that's how it's commonly referred to. I don't think anything about it. The period at the end of this post will be the last time I give it any thought. For Phucks safe....just be safe.
No, I am not Chinese, East Asian, Etc. And I don't like the CCP or anything about Xi. I do however think you should use the correct terminology. Tucker Carlson and GOP McCarthy keep calling this the China virus, and I seriously doubt their motives here are noble. The WHO formerly named it from just Novel Coronavirus 2019 to SARS-COV-2. It would be like me insisting that the NBA should be called the NOA because it's an orange ball.
They can compensate by throwing trillions into coming up with a legit vaccine or treatment drug, and the permanently shut down or heavily regulate wet markets going forward. FYI, 95% of Chinese people have nothing to do with this. The government has blame for not learning from SARS and other viruses that came from bat and other viruses that harbor at wet markets. And humans need to learn to stop growing into areas that displace and create more interaction of us and our food sources with bats. Humans and bats are obviously not meant to interact.
Doesn't really matter what we call it. The OP has a point about holding China to the flames over their labor practices and the fact that they view us as an enemy. We need to have other sources for many of the things they make / produce just in case .... be that conflict with China or another pandemic or anything else really - we'd be better off moving those things elsewhere in the world. This not only secures our sources but weakens China economically - they won't have the wealth to dump into researching and developing nefarious intentions. Our desire for cheap **** has fueled their economy for decades - Its time to cut off the tap.
Amazing this OP has started two racists thread to support his high leader message of blaming China and now he has his Trump cohorts posting bs crap... Trump is now trying a different diversion and getting his trumpettes to do the same... T_Man
I call it Wuhan virus personally but honestly calling it the china virus is fine since they are responsible for failing to contain it and more than likely engineered it at their deadly virus research facility. ___ Here are 17 other diseases named after populations or places: West Nile Virus Named after the West Nile District of Uganda discovered in 1937. Guinea Worm Named by European explorers for the Guinea coast of West Africa in the 1600s. Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever Named after the mountain range spreading across western North America first recognized first in 1896 in Idaho. Lyme Disease Named after a large outbreak of the disease occurred in Lyme and Old Lyme, Connecticut in the 1970s. Ross River Fever Named after a mosquito found to cause the disease in the Ross River of Queensland, Australia by the 1960s. The first major outbreak occurred in 1928. Omsk Hemorrhagic Fever Named after its 1940s discovery in Omsk, Russia. Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever Named in 1976 for the Ebola River in Zaire located in central Africa. Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) Also known as “camel flu,” MERS was first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and all cases are linked to those who traveled to the Middle Eastern peninsula. Valley Fever Valley Fever earned its nickname from a 1930s outbreak San Joaquin Valley of California, though its first case came from Argentina. Marburg Virus Disease Named after Marburg, Germany in 1967. Norovirus Named after Norwalk, Ohio after an outbreak in 1968. Zika Fever First discovered in 1947 and named after the Zika Forest in Uganda. Japanese Encephalitis Named after its first case in Japan in 1871. German Measles Named after the German doctors who first described it in the 18th century. The disease is also sometimes referred to as “Rubella.” Spanish Flu While the true origins of the Spanish Flu remain unknown, the disease earned its name after Spain began to report deaths from the flu in its newspapers. Lassa Fever Named after the being found in Lassa, Nigeria in 1969. Legionnaire’s Disease Named in 1976 following an outbreak of people contracting the lung infection after attending an American Legion convention in Philadelphia. https://thefederalist.com/2020/03/13/17-diseases-named-after-places-or-people/ Also note that Spanish Flu likely originated in China.... just got noticed more in Spain.
Right now, maybe the focus should be getting testing going and marshaling resources for treating upcoming cases first so there wouldn't be as many deceased? After things settle down, you people can hire Rudy Giuliani to sue China. Trump is finally taking the situation seriously. But even his latest press appearances are at least 50% focused on deflecting blame by pointing fingers at China, Obama or whatever else. The whole "China Virus" name is really just another way of saying "Not My Fault Virus."
This idea that the PRC engineered the virus to get back at Trump is ridiculous on the face of it. Why engineer a virus that has killed much more of your own people than other countries, hurts your economy, hurts the economy of many of your trading partners, and the global economy which you depend on? I agree the PRC is an authoritarian corrupt regime and deserves criticism for ignoring this and then trying to cover it up in the early days. Claiming it is an intentional action though makes no sense and shows a profound and dangerous lack of understanding of the CCP. The CCP is primarily concerned with staying in power. This would be suicidal to for them to intentionally do something like this. Also the conspiracy in much of Asia is that this virus was engineered by the CIA to weaken the PRC, SK and other Asian countries that the US isn't getting along with. That's a stupid idea too and doesn't make sense on the face of it either.
Also the PRC is sending aid and health experts to Italy to help them fight this. Again the CCP should be criticized for their lack of action during the early days of this disease. Since then they've done a lot to fight it and appear to be turning the corner. If they are willing to share that expertise instead of looking to punish them we should be looking to work with them to defeat this. Wherever it started it's an international crisis now. Casting blame isn't going to end this crisis sooner.
Also I have no qualms about ******** on the Chinese government about COVID. We Americans should disintegrate our supply chains with China as much as we can.
It is very, very basic. The last 4 global pandemics have originated in China. Mainly due to unsafe practices in the "lucrative" wet markets and other terrible hygiene practices involving wild animals. The communist government could easily shut it down for good if they wanted, but these markets continue to persist due to deep Chinese cultural roots. We have to call it what it is for these virus breeders to take it seriously, and forego a "lucrative" and sadistic trade that threatens human life. But most of these haev no idea what being human is.... just productive efficiency as we can see.
The China Virus has now killed double the people in 2020 than 9/11. The reparations must be hard or they will continue the "lucrative" and sadistic poor hygiene practices surrounding food and wild animals ... in the sneaky way they are great at. Just like Islamic terrorism is an extreme form of Islam that a war was waged against, this part of China is an extreme form of bio terrorism that needs to be aggressively halted. The sad thing is the number of clueless Americans who are too afraid to say anything that affects their bottom line. No point having all that money when you or your loved ones don't have health.
No, it's a way of makign China take accountability instead of constantly deflecting. Just like people get angry when you don't say Islamic terrorism and use oh well, angry people doing bad things randomly, people are going to get angry when China manufactures a global virus every 5 years for the past 20 years. It is a very consistent trend... do not avoid the facts. That is how you prevent these things going forward.
Spot on. I've thinking the same thing for years and was told that only an economic meltdown would present such an opportunity. Well here we are...
Agreed we shouldn't be dealing with them on moral and ethical grounds alone. Surprised that environmentalists haven't been screaming for the world to cut economic ties with China based on their absolute disregard for wildlife and the environment and human rights. This is something that both sides of the political fence can get behind. Most of the world would be better off. The leadership of China has absolutely no moral compass whatsoever. Power and greed are the only guides. The virus naming is so childish and ridiculous let's stop it right now and keep the subject to what really matters for people's lives. Who gives a sh$*t what the virus is called.
