The rodeo brings more money anything. Its probably bigger than shutting down the OTC
Unfortunately this is gonna be political. You can here the anger in the families of the kids competing in the livestock show.

Such a shame that we’ve panicked this much over a virus no more dangerous than the flu. If people would just take care of themselves on a regular basis, they’d have nothing to worry about.

That's an impressive amount of ignorance crammed into 2 sentences.

Just because you probably wont die doesn't make it something to not take seriously. Our medical system is prepared to handle the flu. Not this. Not if it explodes like it has in other places.

OMG. That's the problem in this world. Screw health risks, because somebody will lose money.

Health over making money any day. Pray for those of us in public education if schools aren’t canceled. I’m sure parents will hold their kids back from school.

The Rodeo closing is just the first domino to fall.

Glad I didn’t buy tickets to any rodeo events. I’ve avoided it the past two years. Wonder how people will be reimbursed for tickets, let alone those who bought cash tickets off craigslist or similar. Sounds like they’re outta luck.

Perhaps you are fortunate enough to have paid time off, to get to work from home, or to not be dependent financially on the Rodeo, but many others are not as fortunate.

Obviously, I don't know anything about random Montgomery County case that just flared up, and perhaps, I will change my mind once more information is given to us. But this is definitely an economic tragedy (whether excused or not) for many of our neighbors in Houston combined with the fact of the on-going price war on oil due to the Coronavirus.

    **** the Coronavirus.

People still have to make money to live. Especially food and beverage servers. People who rely on people going out.

I guess you’re right. But this is the first big public event to do this, right?

What’s next, an emptiER Toyota center?

The issue I have with these comments is, we have a vaccine with the flu and thousands die. We don't have a vaccine for this, so if it really takes off, how many people do you think will die?

The Rodeo would be the perfect petri dish for several super spreading events to happen. We are talking about a single infected potentially infecting 10s or even 100s of others.
Unless you all are wearing masks and stand many feet away from each other. I think you don't.

I agree to an extent. There is an extreme overreaction from a lot of people, stemming from key harsh words used by the media.
Unless you are extremely sick or elderly then you have almost a 100% survival rate. Symptoms being no worse than the flu.

That being said, it is an issue with the way it spreads. Fast moving, WHO has labeled it pandemic simply for this reason. We’re past the point of containment and need to be in preparatory phase.

Sounds like he got it at the Rodeo, 12 days ago. That’s community spread AT the Rodeo.

That certainly calls for shutting it down.

Seems very reasonable one or more of those Corporate BBQ tents had traveling business wo/men carrying the virus into the Rodeo.
