I thought China has been pretty proactive in dealing with the outbreak. Italy is now worse than China.
Watching... Edit: Looks like Murdoch got off his ass and told them to report some actual news...glad to see it in this instance...disappointed it took so long. Edit again: I agree with him on all of the China points.
An absolute criticism of China is they were too worry about public reaction than real threat (sounds familiar to here?) - the local gov initial censorship (of the dr that could have blew the whistle on this as early as Nov if I recall correctly) played a role in delaying their action. But once they realize the gravity of it, they acted quickly and severely - i bet you many people over there under quarantine would prefer to not be locked down and just deal with the virus. They started to lock down after about 500 cases and 20 death in Wuhan. We are already pass that point, sadly.
I have not met any Chinese who disagrees with the forced lock down quarantine. It saved tons of lives and money for millions of families. The medical bill in China could be hefty. They don't have safety-net and their insurance is very limited. Now the government covered all the costs. who gonna say no?
Was the Swine flu originated in China? If not, the media would have no interest in reporting it and any cover up should be justified.
Trump Has Sabotaged America’s Coronavirus Response Foriegn Policy Magazine ... In May 2018, Trump ordered the NSC’s entire global health security unit shut down, calling for reassignment of Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer and dissolution of his team inside the agency. The month before, then-White House National Security Advisor John Bolton pressured Ziemer’s DHS counterpart, Tom Bossert, to resign along with his team. Neither the NSC nor DHS epidemic teams have been replaced. The global health section of the CDC was so drastically cut in 2018 that much of its staff was laid off and the number of countries it was working in was reduced from 49 to merely 10. Meanwhile, throughout 2018, the U.S. Agency for International Development and its director, Mark Green, came repeatedly under fire from both the White House and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. And though Congress has so far managed to block Trump administration plans to cut the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps by 40 percent, the disease-fighting cadres have steadily eroded as retiring officers go unreplaced.... https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/01/3...ited-states-public-health-emergency-response/
And WHY? What possible reason would the manchild have for cutting, basically, our citizens’ bio-defense?
'murica first. Dont spend our tax dollars monitoring foreigners' foreign diseases for them. They need to carry their own weight and monitor their own diseases. Also, the wealthy shouldn't have to bear the burden of paying to protect poor people. Everybody for themselves, MF'er! If they didnt want to die from Ebola they should have pulled themselves up by the bootstraps.
I wouldn't touch the market for a while. I sold a lot of my positions a few weeks back before the virus came here as I am risk adverse. And given that we could face a major global economic downturn from this - it's very risky to buy. The risk of missing a bounce is far less than the risk of buying and then seeing the market lose half its values and taking years to get back to where you were at.
China had the genetic code of the virus in the beginning of January, for 10 days and didnt release it. They were waiting for confirmation from president Xi. Finaly the scientists themselves went ahead and gave it to WHO. 2 days later the whole lab was shut down and they were fired.
This is more lies. Obama declared a public health emergency in April 2009 and upgraded it to a national state of emergency in October. trump has not declared a state of emergency to date
