let's not forget that he had to overcome open-heart surgery and just pile on him for being inconsistent. he was turning into a really solid player for okc but with his contract extension coming up, okc traded him to boston, and then they discovered his condition... and then after open-heart surgery, he had to get his fitness back after missing nearly a year. he never turned into that all-star player that many people early on thought he would become and that's probably part of the reason he gets crapped on... especially from boston fans who likely drove the early narrative that he was lazy and inconsistent. he's a solid vet who brings a little bit of everything but doesn't necessarily excel in one certain thing other than being a versatile, big-body... the type of player that has always thrived under mike d'antoni, like a tim thomas or boris diaw.
I mean, sure. I didn’t mean to sound unsympathetic to his health conditions that he overcame. I was merely posting on the basketball side of things, what he’s actually accomplished or lack of accomplishments on the court. In no way am I implying that he’s a negative human and I wish him nothing but success. Wayta make me sound like an ass
lol sorry about that. i get that jeff green has been inconsistent throughout his career, but just trying to make sense as to why he's been that way. for his size and the skill-set he possesses, i really think he is a good fit for the rockets. we don't necessarily need him to produce consistently on offense or be a world-beater on defense. we just need him to have an occasional 20 min night off the bench where he can get his offense going from the 4/5 position. on most nights, harden and/or russ will be taking care of the scoring load. anything else green does beyond that is gravy.
Green was always considered a tweener (which used to be a negative), but the game has changed and his versatility (especially on this team) could be the best fit of his career. He's an ultra-athlete, so there's still a lot in the tank. He has the size, runs the floor, good enough 3 ball for the 5 spot (way better than Thabo). I think he could be a perfect fit for us. We'll have to see...
10 days ain't long to showcase skill. It might be they gave him only 10 days because aint much left and Mike d'antoni is expect to leave out the back door any time or without warning!
Mo harkless, Mo "sparkless". It doesn't matter with danuel house. Anything Tucker does to get rockets out the first round helps!
Green will back up 5 spot. Harkless will be wooed as a starting 4. Keep Green, its Tyson or Harty that should be dropped. Both unplayable.
Gee, you know an awful lot about basketball. 10 days is enough. Multiple sauces have confirmed NBA collective bargaining is cracking down on players milking contracts!!!!! Didn't Ryan Anderson and Nene steal enough from the team!?!? Gerald green stole money and should have been traded long time ago for fighting African in Minnesota!!!
Bc flexibility is the most important thing for an NBA front office to maintain. Without flexibility you have no ability to make moves.
Mike d'antoni ain't got time for Jeff green to pull a Ryan Anderson. 10 days is enough. D'antoni is still looking for his extension!
MDA said today "Jeff has been really good in the two practices, he's 6'9, athletic, been to the finals and he's been shooting the 3 really well in practice. I'm planning on him being here the rest of the season"... I paraphrased, but those were statements from our coach... Expect to see him play a role tonight... i've seen this film before and it has typically ended with said new addition's 3pt shot going cold after a couple weeks in a rockets uniform. please bball gods let it be different this time
That's why they gave him 10 day deal. The rockets lose to jazz on 2/9, so team owners go get a knee-ga who the jaZz recently waived, Jeff green! This move by the owners has desperation written all over it, DESPERATE!
