Yes, Duckworth would be a great choice also. I’m a little hesitant to put forth someone that wouldn’t give the ticket an obvious boost in a key swing state, but she’s very impressive. I know Abrams doesn’t provide any obvious swing state boost, but she has major upside as a leader in the party. She’ll galvanize a key demographic and most people sympathize with the royal screwjob she was subjected to. She’s also someone that can appeal to both sides of the party. I think Gillum embodies the same qualities. His past support for M4A might make him appealing to the Bernie/Warren crowd if one of the center-left candidates is the nominee. Plus, Florida. There are many, many paths to 270 with Florida going blue.
There will be a lot of factors to consider. 1) Succession planning (given that half the field is in their 70s) 2) Ideological balance of the ticket to turnout the disaffected 3) Tokenism to turn out those concerned with representation The VP picks could be drastically different for an older hard left candidate VS a younger soft left candidate VS an older soft right candidate.
