It's all of basketball. Contributions to the game. Not just coaching. Rudy has twice the number of NBA championships as those three combined. If you want to count Brown's NCAA championship as equal to his Detroit NBA win, Brown and Rudy are even. As far as playing goes, Nelson was on those Celtic teams, so he gets a big push from that. Brown was a 3-time ABA All-star and Sloan made 2 NBA All-Star games. So, Rudy has the same number of All-Star appearances as all three combined. None of them received The Punch.
Props to Hannah Storm dropping, 'Rudy T Heart of a Champion' while reading off this year's nominees (in a goading get him in the HOF tone).
Chuck Daly is in the Hall of Fame, after he passed away I think, that's shameful. The voters never consider age and health of Nominees.
Is Harden going to pass the ball? All we see if dribble dribble, this small ball line up...we will have to see in the playoffs. And for that reason Rudy T isn't going into the HOF -espn/tnt/doris
No offense, but why was Van Chancellor inducted 13 years ago while we're still waiting in 2020 to hear HoaC Rudy T's name called? You can actually find much less accomplished coaches than Van (and obviously Rudy) in there. One who didn't even make a final four but captured "3 Big 7 titles." One who had a "NIT-third place finish and three NCAA tournament births." Wtf? You can go through and find more bums whose claim to Hall of Fame is basically coaching beloved east coast universities to above .500 records. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_coaches_in_the_Naismith_Memorial_Basketball_Hall_of_Fame
"Hall of Fame? That's a bullshit term, so you just go on ahead and stamp that form there, sonny, and stop wasting my damn time. Truth is, I don't give a ****." -- Rudy T
Daly's teams won 638 games (22nd all time), while Rudy's won 527 (29th all time), so that's not a giant difference. Both coaches won back-to-back NBA titles. Both men coached a USA Olympic team to a gold medal. The atrocity of Daly getting in the HoF and Rudy not (so far) is that Rudy was also an All-American in college and a 5-time NBA All-Star. He probably would have made the All-Star team a few more times if not for Kermit Washington. Daly, on the other hand, never played college ball or in the NBA. So yeah, if Rudy had died he'd be in by now. If he doesn't get in this time, those voters need to be slapped.
You can rest assured that if he had coached the Lakers or Knicks to back to back Championships while being a 5 time All-Star for either of those teams, he would have been in 10 years ago. That's for a fact.
Not just college, international career too. He's an Olympic gold medalist and a World Cup bronze medalist as a head coach.
Lol More like 1 year after retirement, Rigging is natural if it involves favoritism form their favorite team like Lakers, Celtics, Knicks. Does Pat Riley, Patrick Ewing, John Starks, Nick Anderson, Penny Hardaway, Shaquille O'Neal might be involved in bribing voters bank accounts. They all hate Rudy T I believe. Just a Travesty, just like Guy Lewis being so old and in a wheelchair to get in the Hall of Fame. Just Shameful. He should've gotten in right after retiring.
