I wonder why the Knicks are still so high, despite them being trash year-in, year-out. I get that it's a big market and all, but it's surprising that people will spend so much money on a crappy product. Same line of thinking for Chicago.

So if Tillman sold now he could make a profit.

    What he's waiting for?

the restaurant business in the states is entering a sharp downturn. casinos already were and it will be exacerbated by the coronavirus now. hopefully tilman gets squeezed out of this holding

He actually wants the team because he's from Houston.
Most sports fans in Houston dream of owning the Rockets.

You can be a cheap owner and not sell the team.

The worst is if you are a cheap owner and you sold the team for profit
and then take the championship trophies to Florida.

    That's the worst, it's Wuhan .

    Revenue. Market. Fans. Culture.

NYC basketball culture = Texas football culture

Let's just s'pose, pretend shall we that LBJ had signed here instead of LakeVille. What would the evaluation of TheGoodGuys' franchise be? (Note: I did not say, TheGoodGuys' franchisee.

    @Juxtaposed Jolt

New York City and the Knicks have tradition

It's really hard for newb small brained low IQ Clutchfans to understand the concepts of which the 99ers and superior Clutchfans bring

    Tradition means everything

The Knicks have never dramatically changed the logo or colors and most importantly the IDENTITY that they represent NEW YORK CITY

The previous Rockets owner dismantling the tradition after the Rockets won TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS with the logo and jersey was the first domino to fall.
The second was the threat to move to another city . This owner NEVER cared about Houston.
Third the new arena pandered to corporations.
Fourth, once the greedy b*stard realized the monetary opportunity , he went full on , investing in China and not in Houston.

He immediately wanted to remove Houston from the identity of this franchise.

He took the championship trophies to a different state.

James Dolan has never been cheap and is the most hated owner in the NBA.

    HE WILL NEVER SELL.

    Cause he's not a greedy b*stard, he's a rich b*stard.
    that's the difference.

    No.
The worst is if you are a cheap owner, who waited until you could milk every value out of your superstar until he retired ,sold the team for profit
and then you had NO championship trophy to take with you to Florida.

Being cheap - AND therefore selling the team, is HONORABLE. That's exactly what any fan would want. An owner with self awareness that can bow-out when he/she realizes they are too small potatoes to contend at the highest level.

Too bad our current owner is driven by ego instead of wins.

    99'ers are driven by wins.

i wouldn't say never. if he becomes insolvent in other areas, he'll be forced to liquidate what he can still get cash for. particularly since he's heavily leveraged with debt

Being forced out is a different situation.

Donald Sterling is the last 'force out'.
