With Morey it’s always someone elses fault. Even when Les ran the team. It’s kind of patronizing to act like he has no control over his moves. Doubt that Fertitta would pay him over 4 million a year to have zero input.

For what it's worth, I think we got better (though I share my disappointment in Tilman's cheapness). We weren't a top contender with a traditional center. I'm excited about our radical style of play - it's something new and we might as well maximize what we're good at to innovate.

......but if it makes you feel better then keep blaming the owner. Someone said they overheard Tillman ranting on and on that we have to do whatever it takes to get Bruno!!! Beuno was all Morey as I seriously doubt that Tillman has ever heard of the scrub.

Well, we definitely wasn't getting Drummond even if the Pistons wanted to gift him to the Rockets. I'm sure you've noticed the path MDA wants this team to take....But I agree with you, Morey is overrated and I would like to add MDA sucks....

Yeah, since we were hopeless anyways, let's stay hopeless and dump some salaries by giving up our first and second for the next year.

    Yes, we become better.

If you think getting Covington is just "dumping salaries" then I don't think you'll be reasoned with.

Out CC, salaries, 1st and protected higher 2nd

In RoCo, Bruno, lowest Knicks 2nd

Take out the salary part, you don't think the trade was a dump move? Bruno is just a patch. No one in their right mind would trade CC + 1st + swap for a worse 2nd for Roco + Bruno.

Okay just before you go on permanent ignore, a comment (actually a couple).

If this was really about Tillman and loving money, he would be foolish not to go all in on attempting to win a championship and putting the best product on the court possible.

Professional sports franchises are like real estate - they all appreciate over time. But the franchises that REALLY go up in value are the most successful ones. If you turn a franchise into perennial championship contender with big name super stars and LOTS of media attention and an international brand (the Patriots, the Yankees, the Rockets) then you make a LOT more money when you sell.

One of the investors in my company is a minority owner in the Redskins. They suck. He and Dan Snyder really want them to win, so that their investment will grow as large and as quickly as possible. They struggle every year trying to figure out how to win. It's not that they won't spend money, it's that they can't figure out how to put a winning product on the field consistently. Winning in pro sports is HARD. Every owner is a wildly successful business person with huge financial resources behind them. Half of these very rich, hyper-successful Type A personality types end up every year owning a team that has a losing record. None of these guys are idiots - but only a very small number of them can be winners year after year.

Another acquaintance I have here locally is Jeff Vinik. He's figured out how to put a winner on the ice year after year with the Lightning. The Lightning have gone up tremendously in value since he bought them. When he sells, he's going to make a killing.

If you build a perennial winning team as an owner, you make more money. If you build a team that sucks year after year you are going to make less money. It's so obvious its stupid to argue anything different.

So WHY IN GODS NAME would Tillman buy the Rockets and then penny pinch if there was a trade to be made that would give him a better chance at being successful over the long term? It's stupid and you are stupid for suggesting it.

Tillman isn't punting on trades to save a few million dollars now, when fielding a bad product would cost him hundreds of millions in profits when he exits. Not happening.

And Morey has control to do whatever he needs to do. The moment that Tillman or anyone else puts restrictions on Morey, he will be GONE. He can write his ticket anywhere he wants! He will not stay in a market where he is handcuffed. Morey is here because he believes the Rockets maximize his chance of winning and (more importantly) because he loves working with Harden and D'A and having the control to do whatever the hell he wants.

So quit whining about Tillman and either enjoy the games or go find another team to root for. Because the bullshit your peddling is getting old.

Imanimal is one of those people that naturally make others want to drop them from a very high place and then take a piss on them.

    1) tilbitch it on record that he intends to keep the rockets in his family for generations. so he wouldn't care about the selling price in the coming years, but he does care about the net income he gets each year
    2) isn't morey already bound by a 4year contract? he wouldn't be able to go work for any other nba team

    You tell us Patrick.

Also, weird post man, we get it, you hunt people for sport and ride in private jets with the pure intent to kill off all of the polar bears so that you can gentrify the north pole.

If you think that Tillman isn't concerned with making his assets appreciate over time, even if he holds them forever then you need to learn about someone named Warren Buffett. Seriously.

And if you think that Morey's contract doesn't include exit clauses based on him having ultimate control over basketball decisions, then you haven't been paying attention to how Morey works.

Okay - so you live in your mom's basement, can't balance a checkbook and don't know the first thing about how successful business people behave?

    Sure thing Donald Jr.

And how is my post weird talking about sports, where yours is okay talking about polar bears?

I can't imagine how difficult it is to do DM's job with Tilman's cheap ass hanging over his head. The whole league knows how Tilman operates and what his primary focus it. Because of that, Daryl has no leverage whatsoever.

So from all the evidence you've seen of how Morey operates, you really believe he screwed himself in his own contract?

And Tillman is several hundred million dollars richer than either of us. Hate all you want, but he's a lot closer to Buffett than we are.
