Would be so sweet if true. It makes our cheating less painful. Less painful. Still a kick in the gut.
The double standard is STAGGERING. If Jomboy tweeted a video of Astros coaches doing anything on their Apple Watch in the 2017 playoffs, oh boy. ESPN and the nat’l media would lose their mind, even more so than the ignorant 2019 Altuve/Reddick takes. My god. I love the Astros but the double standard is really making me despise professional baseball. It’s a joke. It’s like wrestling at this point.
If thats what I assume it was, Bellinger can go right ahead and kiss my ass too, trying to ride his high ****in horse. He even had a teammate that said, "If youre not cheating, youre not trying" in Grandal when asked about the WS matchup.
Even if it isnt what we can all assume it is, as much as they have been implicated, by MULTIPLE sources, it should be enough to investigate.
That was something else they mentioned......after that incident....we were told that the commissioner went NUTS on the Astros saying..."You idiots can't get out of your own way" when the sign stealing thing broke. They are 100% related. DD
Pete Rose would love this day and age. He'd be able to use an apple watch to place bets mid-game. Rose is a jerk and always has been. The rules against betting on sports existed years before Rose ever even wore a jersey. It was explicit - bet on baseball, get banned. Rules for electronic sign stealing were also explicit - get caught and you're subject to fines, loss of draft picks, and management suspensions. MLB was consistent with the rule book in both cases. Nothing to see here. Rose should stay banned.
Yeah, if you wanted to post something about the Dodgers, this blurb from an article about pace of play would be a good place to start, from Nov. 2018: Among the developments that are slowing baseball games to a crawl: the proliferation of electronic surveillance. Many clubs now have as many as six high magnification cameras installed in their home ballpark specifically designed to steal signs from opponents. Here’s how quickly things have changed, according to a Dodgers source. Three years ago, if you walked into the Dodgers’ video room behind their Dodger Stadium dugout you would likely have found Zack Greinke pouring over video of opposing hitters, looking for any edge he could find to match up his stuff against their weakness. This year, if you walked into the same room you would have found a small army of 20-something analysts in polo shirts and slacks pouring over video from the in-house cameras, like the security room at a Vegas casino. Most teams train their cameras on the catcher, the pitcher (from several angles), the third base coach and the dugout. These cameras are not used for training purposes. They are used expressly for stealing signs and deciphering “tells” from pitchers. https://www.si.com/mlb/2018/11/02/cameras-stealing-signs-pace-play-rob-manfred
Funny enough, there’s actually nothing in MLB’s rule book about sign stealing, or use of technology, being against the rules. All there is is the memo from Manfred to the owners back when NYY/BOS got caught using Apple watches that MLB has the right to use severe punishments (which isn’t news at all, MLB Commish can literally do whatever he wants under the “best interest of baseball” clause). Not suggesting that the act is not egregious...just pointing out that there’s nothing within MLB’s rule book that actually prohibits or otherwise outlaws it.
I honestly don't care with the whole scandal, the Patriots did it every year but they only got twice. We still won it in 2017. The Red Sox are about to get the hammer and we'll be an afterthought after the punishment gets dealt.
I think the biggest difference here will be the video evidence. Not sure how many players, if any, would say what really happened unless there was hard evidence like there was against the Astros.
Jesus h all that crying from dodgers fans in comments is making me dislike la so much more. I’ll be praying for a World Series rematch

People are gonna be so invested in hating us that we're gonna be one of the biggest draws in the league.
