He's a teenager with unmatched athleticism. Let's revisit this thread in 11 years when he's pushing 30. That super quick second jump though...goodness gracious.
Sounds like you are about to break down crying over something you completely made up in your head. The thread does not proclaim him the GOAT. If you would read you would know it was hypothetical, hence "will he be" "potentially" "eventually" etc. Some people want to chat about hypothetical things on the internet. If you think this is "unfair" or "your pet peeve"..... F**K off back to your hermetically sealed fun-police bubble and let the big boys chat.
Did you see the Zion block in his second game. Zion blocked some guy's into the fifth row of court side seats!
I could see him become a spectacular, in terms of highlights, defensive player. Rasheed Wallace was far from spectacular defensively, but he was fundamentally sound. Did you mean Ben Wallace? He was a mix of fundamentals and athleticism.
FWIW...big boys don't resort to this type of behaviour. So, by all means, please take a seat at the kiddies table until you grow up a bit. Until then.... FWIW..my 'pet peeve' has nothing to do with threads like this. It is when TV commentators make such proclamations. One analyst already extrapolated Zion's points per minute, for example, out to a full game (about 60)..as if we were going to see him average 60 when get gets up to full minutes, as if that is what we should expect. When its not going to happen.
Did y'all ever play NBA Jam backintheday? Was playing that once with TheresTheDagger, and I think it was Robinson blocked a shot off Stockton...and knocked HIM about 5 rows deep in the stands. He get up, looked around a little bit kind of dazed (you have to remember what graphics were like back then)...then came back down onto the court. We both agree that was the greatest NBA Jam moment we ever had.
Given the hype he's getting, I agree. Even if he actually has a really really good career. The hype is just too high. I think he may well be above average...and likely great for a period of time...but will still be below the hype.
Not the same mobility or athleticism. I can't remember the last time I saw Randolph dunk a basketball.
I am going to the game Sunday. He better play or I am going to be mad. Need to see this kid in person.
