reminds me of what Ronald Reagan said . . . he didn't leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left him.
David Pakman pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter: Either way, was disappointed that the Warren campaign went this route. Feels very Hillaryesqe.
She didn't suggest he thinks she should not or cannot do the job. He suggested (according to her) that he didn't think people would vote for her. When you talk about fabricated, this is the part that was fabricated.
When the Biden type wins, all the people who said "we need a progressive because no one like a Biden can win" will act like it never happened and keep insisting the country wants all sorts of crazy left stuff that they repeatedly say they don't in both polls and voters.
I think it's obvious that this doesn't matter if that is how the media and Warren surrogates are spinning it (and they are). Pakman's follow-on tweet addresses this.
But that's where Bernie comes in. He had every opportunity to say "it was a misunderstanding. I think Trump uses sexism in a way to drive voters away from women and I expressed that I thought that it sucks that it would make it hard for her to win". That doesn't just make him not look bad - a lot of women and Democrats are going to nod in agreement with him and turn into a positive for him. But that's not what he did - he instead denied that it ever happened at all. That's not Warren's fault (or her job to clarify), and that's not the media's fault. That's just poor campaigning on part. In the debate he did say that Trump is sexist/racist/etc - but he never connected it to voters and how it explained the controversy. That was a fundamental error on his part.
No matter what Bernie could have done, it still starts with Warren and her campaign who chose to go this route.
Except what she did to start this didn't imply anything. It was that Bernie said she couldn't win. Period. She didn't create the "he's sexist" part of it. He could have killed that immediately if he hadn't just chosen to deny the conversation ever took place before waffling on it with the "it was a misunderstanding" angle. Bernie always plays the victim in everything - besides my disagreement on his issues, that's the biggest problem I have win him and his campaign/supporters. It's a presidential race. It's going to get ugly. Her job is to try to win. You're going to have to fight back. If you can't fight off easily defendable attacks from Warren, what are you going to do with nonstop Trump attacks?
How the hell are the Women hotter being a Trump guy. This post reeks of the dissatisfied democrat schtick, I will admit you are one of the best but your whole last paragraph does not pass the smell test, why would you wish to be a Trump guy it does not make sense. Do Trump guys come some chip that gets into the land of hotter women and better pay? Come on dude.
I agree with everything here except for the fact that one party has a monopoly on being self righteous and to be blunt I don't understand how the person who wrote this wrote that other post. You sounded envious of Trump voters. I also don't think Democrats are pandering to the lowest common denominator, I agree that the party went too far on trying to stake their claim on advocating for every marginalized group to the detriment of others. There is definitely not a cult of personality on the democratic side if there was Republicans would all be swept out of office because Democrats outnumber Republicans.
It was Bernie who went against the non aggression pact and then lied about it. I don't like what Warren did but Bernie is not blameless.
Bernie understands in the modern "me too" climate that a man cannot exonerate himself. He cannot say "this is the proper context". He was hopping that someone who repeatedly calls herself his "friend" would provide the proper context so that the Mee too acolytes would accept the context. They never will coming out of the accused male's mouth.
Pretty much this. We're watching the revenge of the fairer sex; and it's going to cost the Democrats the WH.
LOL. This has nothing to do with the me-too movement or climate or any of the issues dealing with that. Whether a woman can get elected has been a topic of debate for years. It was a topic of debate with Hillary. He wasn't accused of anything relating to me-too. This is just another example of the victimhood mentality of Bernie and his supporters. It's not everyone else's job to fix his problems or make him President and it's not everyone else's fault when he stumbles - not the DNC, not the media, not Elizabeth Warren, not anyone else. If he wants to be President, he should learn to take some responsibility for things.
Are these articles sexist? https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2019/01/authoritarian-sexism-trump-duterte/576382/ https://www.thenation.com/article/t...comfortable-expressing-their-sexism-out-loud/ https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/alt-right-fueled-toxic-masculinity-vice-versa-ncna989031 https://www.adl.org/resources/repor...-intersection-of-misogyny-and-white-supremacy https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2019/08/anti-feminism-gateway-far-right/595642/ He was accused of sexism because in a private conversation a year ago he discussed the toxic sexism of the right wing and Warren staff right before a debate leaked the private convo framing it as him believing Women can't win which lead to the national media questioning whether Bernie is sexist. It's disgusting. Stop defending this bullshit. You really think Bernie Sanders given his history is going tell a leading female DNC candidate that "women can't win"? Listen to Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough. Head there words when they say your narrative is "just stupid". Yes, this deeply involved the culture of "believe women" at face value. The only thing you can fault Bernie for is being naive enough to believe that Warren is a genuine friend who would be willing to provide proper context at the expense of her not being able to play the "vote for her" card. Stop it. Don't die on this stupid ****ing hill. I've repeatedly said that I'm not a Bernie acolyte. I think many of his ideas are unrealistic. But what Warren did here was scummy. Read my post history. I was first. Warren supporter and I explicitly made that clear. This genuinely makes me distrust the integrity of Warren.
Bernie should have joked and said "What I actually said was a Native American woman could never win, but a white woman could."
