Duncan’s good. But what do u define as a “good leader”? Tony Robbins like motivation speeches on the bench? A lot of stars like MJ and Kobe were just arrogant pricks who demanded all the credit and non of the blame. Lot of great players haven’t been great leaders historically they just had great coaches and a great team and made it work. Ain’t many I would take over harden and Russ now. At least he’s drama free and supports his teammates not like insecure nut jobs Kyrie and KD. Or b**** out like load management b**** boys on the flippers. You hate on bron yet he’s one of the best “leaders” out there now winning championships against the odds with ty lue and jr smith by his side recently and leading his team to the best record in the west.
This very well might have been the case. Harden would have an entire different approach to the game if he had Pop for 7 years instead of McHale and Dantoni. He always had head coaches as a Rocket that didn't place any accountability on players besides on back up big men.
I guess most of teammates would feel frustrated if your leader just stand there when the ball is not in his hands. If your leader does not move, why do you put so much effort?
The overall point to this post is "the reason we are not winning is because harden is not a good leader" and thats bullshit. It has nothng to do with who is a good leader or not, thats not how basketball works. anyone on a team can be a leader in the locker room. who knows who that is and it may change from night to night. Harden leads by literally being the leader, the best player on the court. thats how he leads. the Rockets problem is not leadership on the team, its talent. Now leadership in the front office may be a problem. Because we need more talent than we have and they cant seem to get it. Thats the problem.
Who dubbed Kawhi and Durant a great leader exactly? And again, instead of insulting me look up what Duncan did to bring the team together when they were an emotional wreck after their defeat from the Heat or how he encouraged a young Parker and he mentored the rookies. There are some articles out there but not many since it's the Spurs who always keep their mouth shut.
What makes a good leader is up to debate depending on the person. Imo a good leader is the one who is the emotional rock for his teammates and who mentors and positively reinforces them. So MJ , Kobe and in lesser extent Lebron aren't good leaders imo. However they were leaders of their team good or bad. There are other stars and players who aren't leaders at all like Harden. And there are others as you said who are negative influences like Kyrie.
So that was your incentive by trying to disqualify Duncan's leadership? Noone said that we are not winning becaue Harden isn't a leader. But noone should doubt either that Harden is any kind of leader. There should be someone else in the lockeroom who steps up and takes that position since he lacks the capabillity to fill it. And a good leadership reinforces winning and that's without any doubt.
There are articles on Harden being a good leader too lol Leadership is not what this is about. Harden brung the Rockets together at times when other stars were injured and he still kept us 2nd in the west. I saw him last year during a GSW game when he brought us back and told his teammates to settle down and focus on the win. This leadership thing is bullshit. I have been a player and a coach and Im telling you its bullshit from guys who dont play ball and just talk about it. Our problem is talent. It has nothing to do with Hardens perceived leadership. Hakeem didnt win rings because he was a great leader. He won because when he was doubled and tripled other guy stepped up. Curry has rings because when he had bad playoff games other stars showed up. BB is a team sport.
Why are you so concerned about Tim Duncan are you a Spurs fan? lol You dont know what type of leader Duncan was you werent in the ****ing lockeroom. Its bullshit for you to say he is and Harden isnt how the **** would you know?
That’s pretty much sums it up, that leadership crap has a good list of players who never won a ring. Newsflash you can be the best leader in the world but you’ll always lose to a more talented team. All these narratives stop as soon as they win a ring and players know that, that’s why they team up. Harden doesn’t need to be a great leader, I’m sure he would settle for guys who could hit a open shot.
Yet MJ, Kobe, Kyrie all have rings. You have enough talent you can overcome a lack of leadership. It doesn’t work the other way around.
