Just now. Just take 3 straight knees and the game is over. Instead he runs plays, causing the hold penalty giving the Bucs another chance. While also risking something like a turnover.

Any 6 year old that plays Madden understands the clock better than him.

    The Bucs had a timeout.

The penalty gave them 2 timeouts. With only 1 timeout wouldn't the clock have run out before having to punt?

They had a timeout, but why risk everything that can happen by eschewing the obvious play call?!

No it’s simple. In a victory formation an nfl team can run out 2 mins if the other team has no timeouts. Since the other team has 1 time out, the offense can run off 1:20 which is exactly what the Texans needed to do.

Bucs shouldn’t have got the ball back

The penalty gave the Bucs an extra 20 seconds. With total kneels, Texans still punt with 8 seconds.

I fully expect this to be a 30 page thread because Texans fans are utterly consistent.

So that mistake gave the Bucs another 20 seconds for zero gain. It was stupid. Do you agree?

Always fun arguing with someone who knows they are wrong.

I thought this was going to be about not challenging the spot on 4th and 1 with 2:30 left and 3 time outs. At a minimum they win the challenge because the spot was off by 2-3 feet. They had a slim chance of getting a first down and icing the game. Plus its basically a free time out to figure out what you want to do.

You said the game would be over with three kneels... it would not have been.

And risk another poster making a thread about ‘stupidly’ kneeling when you can’t fully run out the clock?

    This, they should have challenged.

If it wasn't just another data point in a long and storied history of BoB being a total dipsh!t when it comes to game management (you know, a large part of the stuff coaches get paid to do) I'd probably let it slide.

Are you actually disagreeing that they should have kneeled out and punted? Btw with a punt it would have been more like 2-3 second left due to lost time on the punt.

So yes technically you’re right. The game wouldn’t have been over. The fact that it didn’t hurt us is irrelevant, because it was stupid anyway. The game was already a turnover bonanza, and wild Hail Marys aren’t as unlikely as most think. Shoot, a few pass interference screw ups could have put the bucs in field goal range.

Point is it was stupid. But thank you so much for clarifying that the bucs would have had less than 10 seconds left Mr. “Well, Actually” Guy.

The only coach in the history of the NFL to do nothing right (according to fans) and still win more than expected. Quite an achievement. This must be the best roster ever assembled in that case - who’s the GM?

I’m saying the game wasn’t automatically over with three kneel downs as the original post said.

This escalating further is exactly what I predicted the typical Texans bbs poster would do.

Sure. He’s going to continue to get **** unless they win it all... and I’m pretty sure he’ll get **** for that too.

Complaining on this level about some of this stuff is more pedantic than running it on first down. Plenty of legitimate things to start threads about at this stage of this season and this era.

I think we make a huge deal bc we love making huge deal about things. If Texans ever got the ball back with 20 seconds left down 3 at their 10 yard line, no one would ever think they have a shot in hell to win but to read comments on here makes it seem like we came this close to losing bc of it.

What a bunch of total bullsh!t.

Complaining about your head coach and OC continually being unable to devise an offensive plan to open games - given a ~week to prepare - being continually unable to manage "coach things" like the clock, time outs, challenges, coaching an incredibly talented young QB who seems to have leveled-out when you're supposed to be a QB guru who has been asking for a great QB for years, committing numerous mental penalties on offense, etc... is "pedantic". Gotcha.
