What's the point differential in those games?

    1) You asked the question (of point-diff's relevance)
    2) You got an answer (which opposed your thesis)
    3) You ignored the fact (because it opposed your thesis)

Predictable since you've already done similar.
    AVERAGE.. *at best*

The "offensive guru" has never had a Top 10 offense in six seasons. He has mostly relied on *above average* defense and a *subpar* division.
Average, yes.. but where's the evidence of *above* ??

Just look at number of penalties we are getting. All the well coached teams like the Ravens/Patriots don’t beat themselves. Texans are beating themselves every week. This is a sign of undisciplined team which is a direct reflection of head coach.

The main argument for O'Brien being above average seems to be that other coaches have also lost games.

Can you imagine if the Texans printed division champion shirts saying "The South is not enough"?

I think we all can agree that Watson is better than Lamar but damn lamar is looking better than Watson right now and that is all due to the coaching. Bill has had his time to get this right if we don’t get to the conference championship game scratch that, the Super Bowl, then he needs to be fired

Can you imagine the Texans clinching the division with 2 games remaining? A good division?

BoB defenders will slink away and not respond to solid post like this, and will regurgitated their bad defense a few posts later.

BoB's brain is malfunctioning looking at that t-shirt. Division champs is all that matters Brian. t-hirt does not compute!

I'm still withholding opinion until the season is over, but I did find this interesting:

NFL Coaches with the longest current tenures

    Bill Belichick - 2000 - 6 Superbowls
    Sean Payton - 2006 - 1 Superbowl
    Mike Tomlin - 2007 - 1 Superbowl
    John Harbaugh - 2008 - 1 Superbowl
Jason Garrett - 2010 - (probably gone this year)
    Pete Carroll - 2010 - 1 Superbowl
    Andy Reid - 2013 - 3 division championships, 5 playoff appearances
    Mike Zimmer - 2014 - 2 division championships, 2 playoff appearances
    Bill O'Brien - 2014 - 3 division championships, Brian, 3 playoff appearances

Clearly, if you win a Superbowl (or 6) you can pretty much write your own ticket. The only coaches that are in similar situations as ours are Andy Reid and Mike Zimmer. Reid has 2 more playoff appearances than O'Brien but also has 1 more year in his tenure. But he also has an AFC Championship game appearance (something that hasn't been done in Houston in 40 years). Zimmer actually has a slightly worse resume than O'Brien.

I don't keep up with the Chiefs and/or Vikings. How do their fans feel about their coaches?

I didn't mention Garrett in the discussion since he's basically circling the drain right now and will be off this list in the next month or so.

Probably helps Andy Reid that he went to a super bowl and multiple championship games with the eagles. And it appears he's built a sustainable contender in KC

2nd and 23, calls a run play that gets 2 yards, then a screen. Way to fold, BOB.

Playing not to lose vs playing to win basically sums up his coaching philosophy.

I guess if you have an all time type dominant defense that could work but generally it sucks.

The Ravens division this year is not a good division. I mean browns? Bengals? Steelers with no Big Ben? Trash teams.

Steelers have been fortunate with a really easy schedule.
