Not a subject that should be discussed by the media now that the season has started, in my opinion. At least not until the playoffs are over, or the team inexplicably begins to play like crap for an extended period of time and without the excuse of the "i" word..
This was my take when the Rockets didn’t sign D’Antoni to a new deal. Rockets can get new young blood out of the college ranks to manage the rotation, minutes and challenge calls. Harden, Westbrook, Capela, and Tucker can call the plays D’Antoni is calling. The only new wrinkle I’ve seen is a hand-off weave that results in a double screen.
Has posted the best winning record in franchise history and gets left hanging. I'm disappointed. We'll see who we end up with that can GUARANTEE us a ring. MDA has taken us as FAR as you can possibly go (7 games with 'greatest team of all time') without quite winning a ring. Anything less than a ring from the next coach will be disappointing and an insult to MDA. I like the run & gun basketball MDA has brought to Houston
One would THINK so. But, it's likely quite the opposite. He would like to keep coaching. This is like a 'contract year' for him. A good showing would make him appealing to other teams. Of course, a .700 winning percentage should as well
Why is Brett Gunning mostly doing half court interviews and not Elston, MDA or someone else? Suspect.
Yeah he definitely maximized Nash, Stat, Matrix and Joe Johnson. That team only won 0 rings in 8 tries. Totally maximized having 1-2 more all stars than anybody else.
He hasnt posted the best record in Rox history James Harden is the one who has posted the best record in Rockets history. What exactly has MDA done that Mchale didnt do? Mchale led Rox also reached WCF and only lost to GSW. The only difference I see is we got a better roster after Mchale left getting guys like Capela, Tucker and Ariza.
Nah it wont nobody wanted MDA before the Rox took him they all know he only gets wins coasting on talent. If he gets a new job next year and his team starts sucking expect an @ from me.
Why's the media trying to stir some **** up and mess with our chemistry? Morey and MDA are both extremely experienced and know the risks of an expiring contract. Of course MDA has to do better to stay, we don't have a ring and that's what we're trying to do here.
Yes, and by your standards Phil Jackson (MJ, Kobe and Shaq) was just a mediocre coach. And don't forget Pops (Duncan, Ginobli, Parker) hasn't won a thing since Timmy retired. MDA: Turned James into a SUPERSTAR. Remember when people were incredulous about MDA naming James as point guard?? Brought exciting basketball to Houston. Rockets have set NBA records during MDA's tenure. James Harden has become MVP and runner up several times (primarily due to MDA's system and coaching) True, McHale's Rockets DID make it to the WC finals against GSW (lost 1-4) MDA took us 7 games against the 'greatest team ever assembled' (the Durant bandwagon STACKED Warriors team) You may recall we were up 3-2 in that series before a CP hammy and agenda driven refs reversed the outcome I believe if not for those factors, we beat GSW and win it ALL. But we'll never know Look, I'm a Rockets fan 1st and foremost. If a new coach can guarantee us a ring, then GREAT. But MDA has shown that he's a top tier coach given the right personnel. Anything less than a ring would be equal to or less than what we have. It's amazing how people think that ANY other coach is better than MDA. But, if SO, WHO is that coach? Let's hear some names for replacements. YOUR choice?
It used to be Roy Rogers all the time, and JB Bickerstaff. Sometimes Matt Brase does it. The staff sends a lackey to say some rote stuff before half time.
