What game was this? I watch EVERY Rockets game & can't recall Melo ever sulking on the bench. Did you see this?
Glad to see Melo getting some minutes and back in the NBA. If Vince Carter is still in the NBA, Melo should be somewhere.
Nah. Vince Carter has always been a team player. In fact, if anything, you could argue that he should have been more aggressive forcing the issue in his prime. Melo, OTOH, has always been a selfish player and has always put himself over the team. A team player will always have an easier time finding a spot on a team than a selfish player.
True, VC is likely there as a locker room guy to the younger potential star players. I think this is important to have when you have a young team that is expected to lose games, TWolves could have used someone like this.
I think that everyone who saw him not start saw him sulk on the bench. If you didn’t, then you weren’t watching.
He only played 10 games. Which one? You make a statement like this but can't give me any type reference
Pretty impressed with his conditioning since returning after a year long layoff. His game also doesn’t look rusty, credit to his trainer and him to stay in NBA game shape without being able to play in 5 on 5 scrimmages very often, Read that ESPN hit article about him saying no one wanted him because his D was terrible, he looked good playing D against Laurie in the Bulls game, keeps that up he’ll be the steal of the season for POR.
Portland beat OKC 136 to 119 Melo was 9 of 11 for 19 points. 9 of 10 on 2 pointers, and 0 for 1 on 3 pointers. Looks pretty good to me Rockets had him throwing up a lot of 3 pointers. Which he missed. Rockets used him wrong.
He's getting his legs under him and with all the added attention on lillard and McCollum he will get his
It really is shameful what CP3, Harden, and the Rockets did. Playing like **** and then blaming it on Melo after 10 games. Cost a whole season for Melo. Melo has been sensational for Portland and since Dame and Whiteside came back, they are 2-0, both of them blowouts.
Melo has a lot more to offer than shooting but D'Antoni is a terrible coach. He's done absolutely everything for the Blazers, pass, defend, rebound, post up, catch and shoot, everything, and the result is two blowout wins since Dame and Whiteside came back.
Cuz your team wouldn't let Melo be Melo. Rockets don't believe in post up and midrange. Meanwhile, countless championships have been won by post up and midrange players (Jordan, Hakeem, Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, Dirk, etc etc). Rockets philosophy of just shooting threes will never work because come Game 7 of the WCF, they miss 27 straight and have nothing else to go to.
Exactly. MDA wants to make everyone a spotup 3 point shooter who just stands around waiting for Harden to pass it to them. That didn’t work for Melo. It won’t work for Westbrook either. There’s still room in an NBA offense for jump shots. It’s not like the Rockets and Bucks have been winning championships with the no jumpshot philosophy. There’s some pretty good players in the league who do more than shoot 3’s and dunk.
Superstars can take some mid-range and be successful. No success is coming If you have role-players shooting mid-range. They need to be behind the three point line or rolling hard to the rim.
