Why are you all ignoring the fact that the poster gave the same critiscm to Sanders? Nobody is singling Warren out and she definitely comes off as an angry candidate. Can we just not call women angry anymore or does that automatically mean you'r a misogynist. I can't believe you compared him to Shapiro. That's like the White calling people that attack Miller jew bashers.
Mayor Pete is definitely the billionaire's candidate. He has done a complete about face on Medicare for All and many other issues and will say anything they want him to say. The billionaires have financed the hell out of him as they are worried Biden is failing. The two early white states are good for him as they are also cheap media states and massive TV is easier to do. Pete is woefully inexperienced, but he speaks very well. Pete is Mayor of a small college town which is economically depressed and has an elite university, who got 8515 votes to win. Soon after being elected Pete fired the first black police chief in South Bend Indiana. The white officers and local elite got young Pete to do this by getting his two largest white contributors to intercede. Pete gaslights by claiming his lack of black support is due to their backwardness wrt to his being gay.
Please show me where Pete has ever said anything like that about black voters. I like Pete and I am definitely not rich. Also this is why he fired his police chief. Mr. Buttigieg fired Darryl Boykins, the police chief he inherited, after learning of allegations that Mr. Boykins had improperly recorded phone calls made by his white subordinates who were said to have used racist language about him. Not saying it was right but just because he fired the guy does not make it a wrong act, there seems to be more to the story. Why don't you look at your favorite candidates with this critical of an eye.
Hey lots of non-rich voters supported for Trump, The Bushes, Hillary and Obama, all who were favorites of big money donors. Agreed just firing does not make it a wrong act. Hey, why would you expect Pete to say truthfully why he supported the police chief. Ever heard of spin? here is some more detail https://tyt.com/stories/4vZLCHuQrYE4uKagy0oyMA/22kkCiHxZkbeKfsQZwkvIm BTW why support Pete. Do you really think he is somehow experienced enough?
More relevant experience, more worldly experience, and a better education that our current president and many other candidates currently in the race. Do I wish he had more seasoning? Yes. Do I wish Joe and Liz and Bernie had less seasoning? Also yes.
I never said I believe or support Pete my issue is that I don't believe your narrative about Pete and that you only give your slant on issues involving candidates you don't like. Yes I have heard of spin and you are guilty of spinning everything into a corporate democratic conspiracy for a candidate that you don't like. Now Pete is beholden to Billionaires as if just receiving money makes you a part of the cabal. And can you you please show me where Pete has said that about black voters?
I do wonder if all the candidates who support gun control or climate change and have received money/support from Bloomberg or Steyer are also corrupt politiicians beholden to billionaires.
I hate this line of thinking and it irritates me that Warren and Bernie have pushed this. They are so vindictive against wealthy people that they've created this stigma. Plenty of billionaires are extremely philanthropic and have the best interests of the country and the world at heart. A lot of people who've made a ton of money turn around and use that money to make the world a better place but Warren and Bernie would say you are corrupt if you've taken their money?
NYT article about Mayor Pete's problems with black voters https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/21/...tion=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage Pete Buttigieg Is in Bad Shape With Black Democrats. Here’s How Bad. No Democrat in modern times has won the party’s nomination without claiming majorities of black voters, the most crucial voting bloc in South Carolina and an array of delegate-rich states. By Reid J. Epstein Nov. 21, 2019, 11:03 a.m. ET Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. has 154 endorsements from current or former black or Hispanic elected officials. Senator Kamala Harris has 93. Senator Bernie Sanders has 91. Senator Cory Booker has 50. Senator Elizabeth Warren has 43. Mayor Pete Buttigieg has six. The South Bend, Ind., mayor has surged to first place in some Iowa polls and has built a big-money fund-raising operation that is the strongest in the Democratic presidential field. But as his campaign has grown exponentially beyond the small band of loyalists who began it in January, Mr. Buttigieg has failed to demonstrate even minimal support among African-Americans and Hispanics, critical voting blocs that will have a much larger say after Iowa and New Hampshire, and their nearly all-white electorates, begin the presidential nominating calendar. On Wednesday night, debate moderators questioned Mr. Buttigieg’s record on racial issues while rivals including Mr. Booker, of New Jersey, and Ms. Harris, of California, suggested he needed on-the-job training in talking to black audiences. a Quinnipiac University poll released Monday — limits his potential in the 2020 campaign. commentary on Powerline: Buttigieg and the Intersectional Blues While “Mayor Pete” rises in the polls in Iowa and New Hampshire, it is a delight to watch the media tiptoe around his very weak pull with black voters. The New York Times today ran a story headlined, “Pete Buttigieg is Struggling with Black Voters. Here’s Why.” Except the story never really tells you probably the biggest reason why: American blacks are highly hostile to homosexuality. This fact goes completely unmentioned anywhere in the Times story, no doubt because it would blow all the fuses at the Times‘s intersectionality switchboard. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2019/11/buttigieg-and-the-intersectional-blues.php
So @Major said that Bernie and Warren are "anger" candidates and he got called a sexist? Wait, did Bernie transition recently?
Their argument makes no sense - this could result in lower black support, but not *no* black support. About 50% of black voters are good with gay marriage. Even more so among young black voters. Yet he still registers at 0%. That suggests that something else is driving his lack of support. This article *wants* to make it an issue, but there's no evidence that it is what's driving anything right now. The bigger issue is a combination of lack of name recognition and lack of history with "Black America". Biden has a massive history with this subgroup. Combined with his association with Obama, that connection is even stronger. We saw in 2008, black voters stuck with Hillary for a long time because the Clintons had a similar long history that Obama didn't - until they saw Obama had a real shot at winning and making history. I suspect this is a group that has been screwed over many times and is likely to stick with people they know over hope/change/inspiration/etc.
No, this is not really what happened. The larger context is: The "anger" thing is a pretty well-honed right wing talking point that they have used basically forever. Specific to Warren, over the summer, Angry Warren was a regualar feature when Fox News would trot out Newt the Hutt to talk about it Obviously, they deploy it against Warren too, particularly when the billionaires got emo as she surged in the polls. Rather than run from it, she embraced it recently - whether or not that's a good tactic remains to be seen. It filtered through the discourse, and now, wittingly or not, Major or Buttgieg or whoever is going to use it. And the billionaires will smile, because the one way the billionaire class keeps the anger germs away from them personally is to continually divide and conquer, regardelss of who gets crushed by the boot. It's going to effect Warren differently, obviously, because "anger" tends to be chalked up as a black mark against "electability, likeability" or whatever nebulous disqualifier that is applied to female candidates, in a way that it is not going to be for Sanders, despite the fact that a person whose brand is yelling about socialism in Brooklynese for the last few decades is probably way more superficially "angry" than the "I have a plan for that" person.
So how can you tip toe around his weak pull with black voters yet you link a article that says it right in the title? Do better O's.
More on tape recordings re Mayor Pete who got elected with 8500 votes and fired the black police chief. Lol he attributes his practically zero percent rating with black voters as them being not progressive enough to vote for gays. https://static.theintercept.com/amp/pete-buttigieg-south-bend-police.html
