Since most of you guys are not happy with Westbrook because of his shooting...… WOULD YOU TRADE RUSS FOR BEN SIMMONS??
Looking at the big picture westbrook is poor at midrange, finishing in traffic and 3 pt shot. These will be exploited in the playoffs. There is no way around it. Every team in the first round will be good enough to beat the rockets if westbrook dont improve in those 3 areas.
The only thing that drives me crazy about Westbrook is his shitty mid range game. That's it. I can deal with the rest of his game. I just wish he would stop taking does mid range bricks. It really does kill our flow. I am sure our pro mid-range posters are rejoicing at the mid range game being brought back to Htine. Lol. By the way, does Houston really not have a shooting coach? Surely Westbrook's mechanics can be improved enough to make him an 80% shooter again from the charity stripe.
it's not necessarily mechanics when it come to his ft's. he's capable of being a 80% ft shooter. we've seen that for multiple years from him. its mental and natural decline at this point. his mechanics aren't changing at 31
its not that crazy. mental aspects are a significant part of free throws, especially when you're coupling in fatigue, situations, and atmosphere
Westbrook is the reason Rockets fans have to complain this year. Such a whiney fan base. Nothing is ever good enough! Go be a Sacramento or NYKs fan.
Most times the games we lose will highlight Westbrook's weaknesses and the games we win will highlight his strengths. Yesterday was hard to watch, but I think it just goes to show that our offensive system is so reliant on harden that the truly great "fit" next to him is someone like paul george, a catch & shoot threat who can occasionally playmake, versus a playmaker who can occasionally shoot.
Pace is pace. Quality is another thing entirely. The Rockets get in transition a lot more but exactly are one if the worst transition teams.
If Russ can get his 3-point percentage back to to 0.300, his efficiency will be reasonable. That would get him to 52.5 TS% just like that. His FT% has already improved and being in the low 70's isn't terrible by any stretch of the imagination. But if he keeps taking 1/4 of his shots from the mid-range, unless he gets back to 80%+ from the line and 33%+ from beyond the arc, he'll always be a negative for our half court offense.
