Tillman Fertitta does cost cutting because he locks up Eric Gordon huge $84 million contract in the offseason, last year Clint was signed to a $80 million. Lock up Danuel House $11 million. Plus James Harden, Russell Westbrook huge salaries. Everyone thought Austin Rivers and Danuel House were leaving on this board what happened they resigned with the Rockets. Plus Nene is back, but is he a trade chip during the trade deadline, or back with the Rockets. We'll see plus the trade deadline will show where the Rockets are at, as Owner and GM. Daryl and Tillman are getting it done. Fans want it all.
Lol this is an incredible way of spinning Tilman’s dodging of the luxury tax despite having a potential championship roster. Tilman Jr., is that you?
Tilman seems like the type of businessman who likes subordinates who are yes-men. Morey doesn't seem like that type of employee.
Actually, they can (not that they always do, but they can. The good GM can cover up for the bad owner...who might still be smart enough to realize that, as well. What you don't want is a good owner with a bad GM. A bad GM will screw it up anyway. The worst of all possible worlds is when those are the same people. This was the Jerry Jones dilemma. GREAT owner. ABYSMAL GM. But would he fire himself? Hell no.
First I have heard of this, and that is great to hear that he sees it as purely an investment vs. a trophy asset. Where did you read this? I don't know if the team will double in value under him, but if he sees it as an investment and is losing money and value I can see him sell it sooner.
I think the Rockets have 3rd highest payroll in the league. Tillman is spending But overpaying players by how salaries are now than how it was years ago. The bench on the Rockets is terrible due to lack of rookie talent.
Said the opposite during his 1st press conference as owner. Said it wasn't looking to sell ever and that it was a family for life thing in fact.
1st you’ve heard of it because it’s not true matter of fact, this quote is straight from Tilman’s mouth I own 600 restaurants and five casinos, and everything is a lot of fun. But there's something about sports. This is a sports world. We live in America, and there's a huge part of every population in America (where) this is what they get up and they think about every day, is their home sports teams. I just love owning 'em, my family loves owning the Houston Rockets. …We would never trade this.” so yeah, don’t get your hopes up
Its hard as hell to do that when your owner is cheap. Why did they fire all those coaches ? Why haven't they spent the MLE in 3 years? Why didn't they put a better team around Harden the past two years instead of hunting bargain's for the minimum ?
Morey doesn't seem like a "shut up and listen" kinda guy. I was pretty positive about Tilman when he bought the Rockets. But, the guy is starting to rub me the wrong way.
So they are saving the MLE for the buyout market …. again ? I didn't buy that excuse the first time , much less the 3rd. Trade deadline ? What on earth do they have to trade that someone else wants ? … Brandon Knight's expiring contract ?!
I've been a fan of this team from the beginning …. their last year in San Diego. If Tilman fires Morey and Tilman plugs in Junior as the GM , I will walk away from this franchise and find something more productive to do with my evenings … I'm sure I can find something to occupy my time.
