Pretty sure he should've been their starting 4 this season even though he already played (through an injury) like trash last season, but he's out of the rotation cause he came into camp fat, and he's starting to be pretty old, the contract is bad too...it's a big risk at this point. And btw we can't trade for him anyway cause we don't have the salaries to match.
Anyone overseas with some combination of *******vic or *******unas in their name? Someone Pops would go after?
Go back and read what I typed. Use them NOW so you can combine those salaries at the deadline. It's quite obvious I know you cant combine TPE's. You'd have to use them now on separate players in separate deals then wait 90 days.
Technically you could come up with the tradable contracts …. but not guys we'd want to see going out the door.
I pray to god morey is out there trying to acquire a Crowder or a Ingles type because the perimeter defense is atrocious. I mean putrid level bad. I can’t remember so many missed switches we had out there
Even 3 elite defenders around Harden and WB would struggle, Elston has no system in place and he holds no one accountable.
As good as WB has been at fast breaks and rebounding, you have Capela as a non shooter, WB as a rather bad shooter, PJ as a corner shooter, doesn't shoot much anywhere else. If Harden has a bad 3pt shooting game, House is the only one who could make shots but he isn't high volume. Pretty limited starting lineup. It is pretty easy to defend the 3 pt line.
This is gonna be the biggest challenge Houston has to overcome. I don't know why we didn't prioritize size and defense in the offseason, but we didn't. And through two games it's evident that we have a pretty big vulnerability in that department. Turner didn't pick the personnel and i'm gonna give him a chance to see what he can do. But damn....bad defensive teams don't win championships. Right now we look like a bad defensive team.
I agree with this completely. I have 0 concerns about Harden's offense. I'm thrilled about the way Westbrook has started the season. He seems so much more mature. But both our transition and half court defense have been horrific. I truly believe that if Holiday and/or Zion where available, that team could have hung 140 on us. I've worn out the trade machine playing armchair GM since before last year's trade deadline with my ideas of what a good defensive 3/4 could bring to this team, but I'm starting to believe that it's just not happening. If this organization keeps refusing to upgrade the 3/4 position it won't matter even if James and Russ become the best offensive back court of all time. We can't wing a ring without having both willing and capable defenders on the wings.
